I hope he takes his big coat, it was minus 5 in Madrid last night.

I imagine when Madrid come knocking it’s very hard to say no. Foden is clearly preferred of the two, so fair play and good luck to Diaz.

Yes, the deal fell through.

In September, the GA approved a €575M redevelopment plan with bank loans spread over 30 years (c. €25M/year).

No idea what our immediate plans are for Diaz, though. I initially thought we'd be loaning him out to a mid-table side to ensure him some playing time, but the press reckon he'll start training immediately with the top team.

We've splashed quite a lot on teenagers in the past few seasons, but I can't really see us trying to blood them all at the same time.

Sad to see one of our better acadamy leaving without having proved himself but it's better than cashing in on one of your top stars

I think its just unlucky for him that he plays in a position where the club has so much strength. If he was a DM or FB he would be getting game time but he is going head to head with 4 high quality internationals and probably the best young prospect in the country. In any other PL club he would be in or around the first team but getting in the City squad in midfield is a different level.

You say that but look at Callum Hudson Odoi.

It’s rare for Premier League clubs competiting for the title simply don’t give academy players real chances these days.

Foden you mention but he’s barely kicked a ball either.

Rashford and Lingard have came through at United, Bellerin, Iwobi at Arsenal etc when they weren’t competing. Liverpool possibly an exception with Alexander Arnold and now Gomez. Alli could be seen as the same.

Young players are worth a punt if you're not winning trophies on a regular basis.

Much easier if you are not in the running for trophies to play lots of youngsters. Not true to say Foden hasn't kicked a ball, yes he could have had more game time but he isn't playing for a club with no good midfielders. At any other PL club he would be first choice but City have the best midfield by a long long way.
