Have it your way

I'm done defending Claude. It's blatantly obvious to me that a sizeable chunk of this toxic fanbase will never, ever accept him as our manager and I am sure you will eventually get your way. You didn't forget the end to last season so I'm sure that you will never let him forget this. If there's one thing I've learnt over the last couple of years, it's to not argue with people with closed minds because it's not good for your health.

But let's be absolutely clear here - any new manager coming in is going to have to clear out the trash we have in this squad. Morgan, Simpson, Fuchs, King, James, Ghezzal, Okazaki, Iheanacho, Iborra, Silva - not good enough, and a new manager coming in isn't going to suddenly make them Premier League standard. So any thoughts of a new manager should also come with a realisation that we have a lot of overpaid waste in this squad and they need to go and be replaced before we can think about moving forward.

I like Puel, I like what he has tried to do. Yes he's made mistakes and I don't think he's an elite tier manager, or even necessarily a Pellegrini/Mancini standard one. I've never been a fully fledged member of the Puel In group, but I've always seen enough to not want him sacked. But he's not ever going to be accepted so I see no point in carrying on when so many are waiting in the background like jackals to kill him, from the boardroom to the dressing room to the stands.

Nev, I'm afraid you're on your own now matey. Fight the good fight if you wish, but you're fighting alone now.

Foxello,

I actually thought that you had some good points on Puel and even found myself agreeing with some of them.

But this is just a self indulgent article that makes you sound a bit like a big kid chucking his toys out of the pram.

Oh dear .... oh dear ....

I'm sorry to hear that, but thank you for the feedback

You can't even blame Iheancho because we're not set up to score any goals in the first place

By playing weakened teams in cups, if European football is a necessity, Puel has put an immense amount of pressure on himself to get 7th and hope that 7th is enough. It really does make that Man City team selection even more puzzling.

I agree with this, and unfortunately even finishing 7th means we have to go through a disruptive qualification campaign whereas a cup win would have given us automatic qualification. I'm still disappointed with the Man City game. Today, however, was different. That team was strong enough, on paper at least, to beat Newport.

If the Puel Out lot want to console themselves by thinking that all of our problems and faults will go away the day Puel is sacked and that we'll start playing beautiful, free flowing, counter attacking football then fine, you do that. But if the underlying issues of lack of strength in depth are not addressed, we'll keep coming back to these problems. Pretending that Puel is the core problem helps to fit people's agendas but if the next manager is still having to play Matty James against League 2 opposition, we're fuched and we'll continue to be fuched until this squad gets rid of the deadwood and brings in genuine quality.

And if you were upset or bemused by my meltdown tonight, I'm sorry but it was not a good night for me tonight. I won't apologise for being passionate about my club and being so utterly fed up by the wholly unprofessional performance from those players tonight. It was disgraceful and something I won't be forgiving anytime soon.

From recent memory, Nigel Pearson had a similar scenario after he came back. It was against Burton Albion in the cup. They beat us 4 something...from that day forward Neil Danns et al never played for us again and the rest is history...

My fear is that Puel hasn't got the guile or motivation on a Pearson level, that's why this is more Peter Taylor than it is not..

Matty James is a Puel Favourite

Morgan is a Puel favourite

It's not about the squad depth but the Manager.

Is he sacked yet?

I don’t think he’ll be sacked for this. Had this happened 3 weeks ago then maybe but he has us 7th in the table having beaten City and Chelsea
