Sunderland til I die

Anyone watched?

Brilliant show a must watch for any football fan, how a club that size has ended up where it is is a lesson for any football club.

Can't recommend it enough it really is fascinating and the access the documentary crew are given is unreal.

A few things that stood out for me;

1. Jock Rodwell is a selfish lazy cant
2. The old lady in the kitchen is great and the person I felt most sorry for
3. Simon Grayson is the most uninspiring person ever
4. How much the club means to the locals, it's incredible how ingrained in their lives it is

But part of the reason they're trained in that way is because the club doesn't want things blowing up in the media.

Of course what you're saying is right, but it's alongside the issue of the media spinning and sensationalising things, not instead of.

Yes, there’s two things club pr and lies, and media sensationalism. Both are to be viewed with contempt.

Watched the first 2 episodes. Simon Grayson comes across as a real wet blanket.

Might sound a bizarre comparison but I watched the World's Strongest Man over Christmas and in the final they asked the massive bloke from GOT something like whether he thought he'd done enough to win it, after one of the later rounds.

He answered yes.

Seems silly, but it was so refreshing to hear someone just be honest, rather than give a long winded response about how anything could happen etc etc.

That's what I mean about not being honest - that's not really a PR issue, that's just the players avoiding making any comment that will make a headline. It's gone so far the other way now that I don't think you ever hear an honest answer.

Same with policitians only worse!

A series following Rangers from division 3 until there is a Premiership title win season would have been unbelievable. So much has went on that it would need to be a few seasons of it.

Plenty of good comedy moments.

Fran Sandaza being pranked thinking he was talking to an agent getting himself the sack.
Kevin Kyle wanting 500 a week and our starting offer being 5k.
Fans wearing bread wrappers on their heads to games.
Murty doing a headstand.
Pedro arguing with the fans from a hedge.

Reminds me of the Seth Johnson to Leeds story.

Politicians are the very worst. Trump found a way round the media, worked for him. To the detriment of the world.

Indeed, and it frustrates the hell out of me.

But a lot of the journalists out there only have themselves to blame for it.

Possibly. But the real evil here is social media.
