Ramsey thoughts?

I'm not the greatest fan of Ramsey. Bar the miracle 2013-14 season when he looked like a world beater and the new Lampard he has been the epitomy of an Arsenal footballer post the Invincibles. Excellent one day and appearing disinterested and mentally weak the next.

How do we feel about him leaving after 10 years at the club? It appears that he wanted to stay but with a large increase in his salary probably because of the crazy wages now paid to Ozil who has given far less to the club.

Personally I think he will never be a 200k pw player and as Emery doesn't think he is a first team shoo in anyway I can understand why the board have decided to let him go. Freeing up his wages alone along with the likes of Welbeck and Cech in the Summer should fund a few signings to improve the club and who can play the pressing style that Emery wants.

Shame that we won't get a fee for him but as we know Wenger and Gazidis left all transfer negotiations so late that the player was always in the driving seat. Hopefully the new ex-Dortmund administration will take this as a lesson learnt moving forward.

Thoughts?

Maybe, maybe not. Walcott was similar and you always felt that he would kick on at another club - hasn't happened. Ox another.

Doubt he'll get much game time at Juve tbh

Does anyone know what he was asking for coz the 140K he's getting at Juve makes a lot more sense than 300K for ozil ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He is getting 140k pw plus a massive signing on fee. We'd probably need to pay him over 200k pw to match that which after the Ozil debacle should never happen again
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahhh Gotcha. The Ozil deal was crazy. Obviously incredibly talented but you could have got somebody way cheaper/ promoted a good young player to play well in the type of games that Ozil does.... 300K a week for an "easy game" player

Ozil deal was down to fan pressure. Club couldn't be seen to lose 2 marquee players in Jan after Sanchez sale so caved in to Ozil's demands.

Ozil owes Sanchez a wedge as without him he'd probably be 100k a week worse off.

Rumour is now that Sanchez and Ozil could be swapped. Unlikely either club would sanction that though.

It was a massive mistake when the club was at crisis point. We have to move on as we can't change it now... just hope some other mug comes in and takes him off our hands.

Also he may well be the headline figure but we have several very poor players on 120k + that are also being criminally overpaid

The job of getting these freeloaders out and getting quality reasonably paid players in is huge.

Aye, Ramsey, Welbeck and Cech all have their contracts expiring in a few months and will leave.

Problem we have is that the longer we are out of CL the harder it will be to get top players unless
we overpay them. If they then underperform we are left with the Ozil situaion all over again.

Yep that's certainly a possibility but I think/hope we're on the right track by employing some experienced recruiters as we've done.

Good players are out there at a reasonable price, Lacazette, Auba and Torreira all fall under good signings. Combined they cost a lot but in todays market were all good value.

Very confusing! Why would Juve invest in him and then give him little playing time? Why would he sign for Juve knowing that he was unlikely to get much playing time. Is Ramsey all about a nice contractor or is he interested in playing football?

He's a free transfer so apart from his signing on fee and wages it's minimal risk for Juve. He's also not cup tied so can play in CL. Ramsey is a decent pro but if he can't make it into our side then I doubt he'll be first choice for a superior outfit like Juve

Very strange comment.
Not cup tied? No one is Especially at the start of a new season...
Signing on fee and wages are very high for Juventus.
He isn't making into our side largely because of the contract issue, but he also doesn't fit Emerys ideals. Emery didn't sign him, whereas Juve are.
