Kiko Casilla

No way is he coming to us without guarantees of gametime.

Exactly the goalkeeper we need. Someone with experience at the top level working with top coaches and top players. Hopefully he can teach BPF a few things.

He played in something close to a quarter of their league games last season.

On top of their cup games and also featuring in the champions league.

He is coming in to be our number 1.

Apparently we are buying him out if his contract, so I wonder if we are signing him for free but paying him all his madrid money.

If so would explain how we can afford to pay him as we are giving him a massive cash payment upfront.

This is a major signing

Worth pointing out that he has plenty of La Liga experience as well, playing more than 100 games for top flight Espanyol.

He is right now. He has been second choice since 2015.

Don't get me wrong, I think he will be a good signing, me, I am surprised we have been lucky to find a keeper like him available in Jan.

He will be number 1.

Might not have a choice if BPF gets a ban.

Think he will be coming to be number 1 anyway.

Now we just need a winger or 10 and we will be comfortable.

Would be surprised if he was not 1st choice tbh.

We now need some real pace

That will do for me.

The way I look at this, and my interpretation may be off, is;

Madrid had two keepers over the age of 30 in Navas and Casilla.

Navas has been first choice for the last few seasons, however Casilla was still getting a good amount of game time, he just was not first choice, but he got some league games and played for them in domestic cup competitions.

Because both of their keepers are over 30 madrid have thought the need a replacement and Madrid being madrid have signed Courtois from Chelsea who is in his mid 20s and looks set to be their number 1 for years to come this leaves Navas to take up the role that Casilla is doing at the moment, playing in the cup and covering in the league.

So suddenly Casilla has gone from a good amount of football at the biggest team in the world to no football at all, he has plenty of time left in his career so probably feels that the time is right to move on.

The premiership is still the best league in the world so he probably looked at that and thought I want to play in it before I retire.

So that's where the move here comes in, he can come to a club which which is looking likely for promotion to the premiership, one (and this is no disrespect to bpf) he knows he can walk in as number 1, establish himself in and in 9 months time be playing regularly in the premiership with them.

Add to that the fact that he will get a nice cash bonus from having his contract bought out, he gets to work with someone who is regarded as one of the best coaches in the world, and (I'd imagine) he will probably pick up a wage increase once we get promoted.

So it's a good move to him

Casilla is a top top goalkeeper with a lot of La Liga experience.

He will be coming to us as our new number 1, and he will help BPF to become an awesome number one.

But football is a funny old game and players who are awesome at one place can look very ordinary at Leeds, and then when they leave, they appear awesome again.

Here's hoping he is here to offer us 5 years of awesomeness!
