Honestly, was there any difference between today 's performance and Everton, Leicester and Southampton?
I know we are bereft of strikers, but when we don't play with a CF we are so predictable. Defenders know we are not going to cross the ball into the box from wide positions and we are just so narrow at times. We look like dropping points in every home game agst teams who defend deep. Also Hazard is just so peripheral for so much of the game and looks unhappy in the role.
What do you guys think?
False 9 is just not the way to go

False 9 vs Arsenal please. Sort of game I think it would work in. Against Spurs we need a striker.

The False 9 for us isn't working atm because there's next to no movement around Hazard, only Pedro understands how to exploit the space is generates (growing up with Messi he would). Willian's too static and direct, Kante's OK at the late surge but Barkley & Kovacic's attacking movement is terrible, and in Barkley's case it shouldn't be this bad.
I feel for Sarri's dilemma. On the one hand we're not moving the ball, more importantly the opposition, well enough to take advantage of the false 9, but by the same token neither Morata or Giroud can be trusted to play the focal point of attack. I'd hedge my bets on Hazard too in Sarri's position but I wouldn't so no to a new striker that's for sure.

Pedro was the difference, he plays the wide forward role brilliantly, knows when to stay wide and when to make the inside run and unlike our strikers he can actually finish.

Only Thomas Muller (who coined the specifics of the role) has played the wide forward better than Pedro in both their careers. Two of the most underappreciated players of their times IMO

I've not watched loads of Chelsea this season but this.
False 9's are pointless unless you have runners breaking the lines. You end up just playing in front of teams and the Prem is chock full with well financed organised teams.
Dissapointed with Barkley as I rate his skill set but I'm not sure you can play him and Hazard in the same team and get the best out of both. Both require freedom and that's not workable.
Chelsea is a bit of a strikers graveyard. Had some brilliant ones (JFL, Drogba, Costa) but the list of failures is a long and expensive one.

You aren't "bereft" of strikers at all; one cost a bomb and is a fair weather pansy and the other was never going to be a regular goalscorer/starter. Not to mention the ones you have let go fairly recently that would be an upgrade. The ones you have aren't good enough but "bereft" nope.
You could blame poor management and/or tactics and/or recruitment but if Chelsea are struggling to field an adequate XI with the resources they have access to then it doesn't give the rest of us much hope.
Throw money at the problem and hope for the best

Lukaku might be available in the summer...

I would much rather play Tammy Abraham and Batshuayi upfront than Lukaku for Chelsea!

I think once he goes to Madrid we'll not need to be troubled by it

If we don't buy a striker, would you prefer taking a chance on Tammy over what we currently have?
