Thoughts on Bielsa incident

Firstly, I don't see anything wrong with what Bielsa has done, whether it was him or another manager. If no trespassing has taken place, no laws broken and no FA/FL rules broken, then all the furore is for nothing.

And it is for this reason that I completely support Bielsa's stance. People are dismayed that he has shown no contrition, but there is none to be had if he believes that he has done nothing wrong.

But now onto the tricky part. Bielsa you could see what starting to get irritated with the continued questioning from journalists and made his position very clear. Then LUFC issue a statement apologising for Bielsa's actions. There is a problem here if Bielsa adamant he's done nothing wrong and club are saying that they have to apologise for him.

Situations can change very quickly and one hopes that this doesn't cause any sort of rift, because the performance on Friday night was incredible. It was the first match of the season where I had been a little bit anxious of result in advance, but team could not have performed any better.

Im kind of hoping the club sat him down and said,
"Look this sort of thing dosent really go down here, don't worry about it, we will put a statement out saying we had a chat, but it's over now, also the win at derby was awesome and so are you, ok get back to work you handsome bar stewad"

Do you think at board meetings like this, the table is surrounded by loads of chairs and then just a blue bucket? That's the image I have in my head.

i thought bielsa's statement was perfect. no need for the team to apologize.

I would hope AR has briefed MB at what he 'has' to say in the media then backed him privately and said 'good work'...

I was a little disapointed with what AR has thought he's had to say... I would of preferred it if AR came out and said 'Bielsa is our manager, we back him in everything he does, he's not committed any offence so unless the FA tell us this is wrong practice, MB is free to prepare for games as he likes"

mont, Spanish, completely agree.

Bielsa is firefly particular about what he says and how he says it, club then contradict him, its these little things that can add up for a perfectionist like Bielsa.

Club now opens itself up for problems, by apologising it's an admission that they have done something wrong/contravened something.

My biggest worry in this was/is the reaction of Bielsa to it... and in particular the reaction of the club to Bielsa.

You would hope, when the story broke, they sat down with their PR team and lawyers... and agreed a ‘containment’ strategy between them.... that all are happy with.

So could be they felt the best thing for the club, was for MB to take the rap, the club to give him a mild rebuke in public. IF THEY ALL agreed with this, then no problem. The problems arise when people go along with it but a seed of resentment has been sewn.

Personally I would have preferred any statement to have shown greater backing for the manager, to have commented on the integrity he has shown etc but sometimes less is more, and maybe bielsa’s not the type to need it.

you would of thought MB and AR have resolved this in house by now so hopefully this will all blow over.

seeing Klich and Phillips laughing about it after the game on Friday suggests its a humorous subject within the dressing room. Here's hoping

Yes, it's humorous...like when the Spanish and Italians beat England! <big grin>

Didn’t break any rules.
I’m more concerned about the penalty.
A total disgrace and that was cheating.
