The form they've shown recently under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly demonstrates they downed tools under Jose.
Not my view, but something I keep hearing from pundits, opposition fans and even a few United fans too. Jamie Redknapp the most recent example in the post match analysis (where he was otherwise quite complimentary about our players).
Now i'm genuinely interested to hear the opinion of people who think along these lines. Because let's have a look at Ole's preferred XI since he's been here, all of whom have been very good:
DDG, Young, Lindelof, Jones, Shaw, Matic, Herrera, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Lingard
Which of those players downed tools under Jose? I will accept the argument over Pogba, even though I don't agree with it because his form after falling out with Jose was not dramatically different to before - his performances for United have always been inconsistent
But the rest:
De Gea - doesn't even come into this debate.
Young, Herrera, Lingard, Rashford - Their form may fluctuate but I could never, ever accuse these guys of not trying. Four of Jose's so called mad-dogs actually.
Jones, Lindelof - have looked a little better under Ole but that's mainly due to the tactics not putting them under so much pressure. Jones in particular has still had his dodgy moments too.
Shaw - one of out better players this season under Jose.
Matic - Jose's secret son.
Martial - Suffered more than most under Jose but far from downing tools, he was probably the reason Jose stayed in his job as long as he did this season.
And that's the lot. So yeah, the people who make this claim - do you have a little more context to put behind it? Because from where I'm standing it looks a bit unfounded. Is it too much to believe that letting very good football players play football is actually yielding results?
Players are a disgrace

"They have got the counter-attack back," said Neville. The statistics reveal the truth of that statement. Opta define a fast break as an attempt created when a team turns defence into attack after winning the ball in their own half. United had three such breaks in the first 45 minutes alone - as many as in their 17 full matches under Mourinho this season.
Indeed, no team in the Premier League had fewer counter-attacks than Mourinho's United. They were joint last alongside Cardiff and Huddersfield with just three. Solskjaer's United have had seven in the past two matches. No team has had as many since he took over. They have gone from the worst counter-attacking side in the Premier League to the best.

It's amazing how a team tactics can change a team's fortunes so fast. Like night and day!

That is criminal when you have Rashford, Martial, Jesse and Pogba in the squad.

thank Christ the players did down tools if it meant getting rid of that charleton of a toxic and flawed manager. We get our United back, the players are happy and everyone's a winner. Even Jose is with his payout

i wonder if any teams will shy away from hiring jose after seeing your upturn of fortunes without him.
i along with many utd fans said jose was not right for you before he signed. who would give him the reins after his last few jobs.

I think the only time he would have done well would have been with the players SAF left. Unlike the current team, most of them were not as coddled as the current generation are. But Jose would probably had gotten a year out of them. That side needed to be rebuilt as most of the key players in all the positions were at the end of their careers (or at least at the top level).
Overall, we should never have gone for him. But Ed saw City get Pep and so he decided to get Jose.

The things not mentioned this season is how Jose was like from the off.
And we had seen this before at Chelsea. But unlike the Chelsea players, you could see the United players trying. You don't come back from defeat to win (or draw) as many times as we did. It also showed that Jose was making things harder as when we had to go for it, we did and scored. Basically the first few games under Ole has been like those matches except from the start, rather than going down first.

It's a tired old cliche.
Didn't city players down tool for Mancini n Pellegrini at the end? Didn't Liverpool players for Woy n Brenda? Didn't Chelsea for every manager they get?
This is just how it goes.

Tired now your players were guilty of it you meant to say.

I wonder where that poster who wanted a change in a manager in parallel with getting rid of half the team Fantasy Football Manager style has slinked off to?
