JJ advocating dark arts of the game

Jemaine Jenus that paragon of virtue who was so outraged at our manager sending a scout to watch Derby train has just said on MOTD 2 that the Everton midfielders were too nice and naive and need to practice the dark arts of the game.....Amazing hypocrisy

Being fair to Jenas, they're not the same thing.

Who’d want to be fair to jenas?

He’s basically saying everybody pushes the boundaries... are ‘professional’... everyone cheats in other words... and is saying you have to do it.

Then he is criticising Leeds for a different form of dark arts that isn’t actually against the rules as far as we can make out.

So to me I agree with the OP it’s hypocrisy. Like woman beating dogging tool collymore defending the morals of the game, like journalists who give their national teams formation and line up away. Bunch of f*cking hypocrites just after column inches and self promotion.

I mean it's not really. They are different scenarios. Jenas is saying that Everton need to be a bit more physical, sly and devious on the pitch, or learn how to foul tactically or be a bit more dominant.

I'm not saying that he isn't wrong about his attitude to spygate. He is. I'm saying that the dark arts on the pitch and the dark.arts off the pitch are completely different.

Have to agree to disagree on that one fella... you can’t pick and choose when to apply morals and ethics and when not to.

So he’s saying it’s ok to cheat on the pitch but not off it?

That’s pretty much nailed in hypocrisy imo.

I'm pretty amazed at the media (ex players generally) reaction.

I watched Sunday Supplement yesterday on Sky, as I normally do, and a room full of footy journalists were pretty indifferent about the whole situation.

It's no mark pundits like Jenas, Andrews et al, trying to push there own agendas.

That's nonsense. Morality isn't a single scale that can be ascribed to everything. It has different factors and contexts. It's also scaled. There are things that are slightly amoral and things that are very amoral for instance.

And different contexts, locations, times etc can define whether something is viewed as amoral.

More to the point, morality is not a black and white construct of right and wrong. It's subjective, and different people will view different things as moral or amoral.

Jenas has gone soft. When he is asked his opinion, he almost always errs on the side of caution, safety, squeaky cleanness. Frank Lampard is a hypocrite – even after Andre Villas-Boas admitted he used to spy for Chelsea at rival training grounds, These guys have their own agenda and all I'd say is, watch your backs boys – the vultures are gathering again.

And now Frankie is denying all knowledge of spying going on while he was at Chelsea, even though AVB openly admitted to it on Josés behalf. Must be great to be so whiter than white Frank that even your brown stuff doesn't stink... I actually like the bloke but if he is saying his opinion of our boss has gone down then the way this has been blown out of all proportion has lowered my opinion of Mr Lampard junior.

Maybe you meant amorous, or immolate, or burger. But you didn't mean amoral.

You're right about subjectivity but that doesn't stop anyone seeing someone claiming a moral high ground on one aspect of football, and then stating players should learn how to cheat without getting caught, is being hypocritical.
