So much doom and gloom around here. We are well placed in the Europa, with the competitions greatest manager in charge of us and Chelsea the only real threat. Yes we have been poor recently and a few overated players want to leave but I’ve always taken this season as a platform for Emery to build his team and understand his players. What better way than when they make mistakes.
Not great to see but some of so called fans need to grow a pair. Even Pep with all the financial backing had to endure a 1st season of patchy form.It would be great if the fans stay with the lads and we continue to have the atmosphere we had against Spurs.Its the one thing I admire about Liverpool, One of the biggest spenders in the premier league era with a modest trophy return but still their fans back the team.
Talking of Liverpool, Must be a kick in the teeth for a team like Spurs who have been more consistent than the scousers for at least 4 seasons, young team and lots of English players some even successfully overated by the press (Trippier, Winks , Dier,) who have willed them to do well but they have to watch Liverpool Manage this title race as well as a seasoned champion would.
You will note that just like Arsenal at some point the investment in a core of English players has brought nothing at Liverpool and right now they are either injured and no where near the first team(Clyne, Ox, Lallana,Sturridge)
What have Spurs done right and what have they facked up? It’s an important question because I believe there is a clue there for Arsenal and United. Okay United have lots of money so they should progress faster with the right kind of appointment but the route to trophies is that much harder now with Pep as manager of City and the financial backing he has. Like Jose in his pomp, this guy takes the league cup seriously so even domestic knock out competitions maybe off the table.
Given the state of the team and the competition we are up against I’m just glad we are in the Europa.

Yeah, teams win trophies not players. Is Suarez a poor player too? Or is he great even though he won nothing but because he's not English.

Going of on a tangent now comparing one player Suarez against a core! a core is pretty much the team just like the quality spine you have that may or may not win you the league.
Klopp could have easily preserved with the injury prone Lallana or your English captain Henderson.Other great managers have done that (Wenger)
I’m not having a go at your English players, in fact until his injuries and the arrival of Salah , Lallana was your best attacker in my opinion but football moves on and it is important to move with it.

the fact pep takes even the LC seriously is a reason i respect him.
i do believe hes been lucky with barca team he took over, then going to bayern and the money hes spent at city to get it right but i do commend the fact he takes every cup seriously. hes a serial winner for a reason.

I have always felt his battles with Jose in Spain made him the manager he is today. At the beginning of his Barca career he used to go on about how football must be played the right way etc but he doesn’t do it anymore. He actually relishes the challenge of meeting teams that play negative football.
He is a win at all costs manager and doesn’t provide excuses. Ever heard Pep offer and excuse for not winning a game. Doesn’t do it. Just tells the press we have to be better and he moves on.
It’s what separates him from all the other managers in my opinion, which is why he is successful, be it charity shields, super cups etc he always wants to win
