Mesut Özil

Should Emery simply accept Γ–zil for who he is and play him with players that can protect him, or continue to demand from the playmaker what he can’t give regularly?

Or leave him out of the team...

All very well with Ozil, but where has all the money gone, can't afford to buy players only loan deals, something wrong with the accounting or has someone got their hand in the till

Offer him to Chinese and Turkish teams.

I'm siding with Jenius99 on this point (in an earlier article). Ozil is being made a scapegoat because his lack of press is an issue in itself, but it's a bigger issue with Xhaka in the team. Xhaka has many limitations, one being his lack of defensive awareness which means the third midfielder in a 4-2-3-1 formation needs to cover a lot more ground just to make up the shortfall for Xhaka. OR, as Emery has done lately, shift to a 3-5-2 formation and leave Ozil out entirely.

There's two problems with this. Firstly, Emery has obviously had a falling out with Ozil, or else he should be at least on the bench. All this talk of injuries is smokescreen. There's definite tension behind the scenes. Secondly, dropping Ozil to strengthen up our midfield isn't a bad idea, if it wasn't for the fact that not only are we clueless in attack but we're still awful at defending. Emery's issue is that he hasn't really solved anything. He's made our attack weak and changed nothing in our defending.

Fair point. I thought the defence was starting to look more solid slowly earlier in the season, then Holding got injured and personally i thought he had been our best defender up until that point.

Then recently we got a high number of other defensive injuries as you of course know and Emery has been continually forced to swap players in and out. When we have to turn to garbage like Lichtsteiner it's really not going to help us find stability there, just one more of the many bad signings.

I agree. Our best partnership has been Holding and Sokratis. Better every since the loss of Holding and Bellerin we have struggled big time.

Mustafi isn't Arsenal standard, for me. I would promptly look to sell and get in an upgrade for him. Also Koscielny is way past it. His age will mean he'll always get niggles here and there and he will never regain that turn of pace that bailed him out often.

Mustafi, Koscielny, Monreal & Xhaka. These are the players i would look to replace in the defensive department. No matter the quality of coach, you won't get much progress if these players are the core of your first team.

Apparently we’re struggling to get loan deals in because they come with obligation to buy, and we can’t afford to have to buy them in the summer. Crap times ahead of things like that are true

Probably any future transfers will rely on getting rid of ozil, and couple other high earners
