Emery's Strange Lacazette Substitutions

Why does Emery always take off Lacazette early on the second half?
I don't understand this.

The team looked like we were going to score a few more goals with Lacazette on the pitch. As soon as we took him off we lost that spark and allowed Chelsea to gain a little more momentum, putting us on the backfoot.

Alas we won and that's all that matters. But his fascination with making these unnecessary subs is going to cost us like it already has a few times this season.

Maybe because today we were sitting deeper and deeper in second half, so he kept Aubameyang on for the outlet ball, and also to keep Chelsea from pushing too high up as they’d always be concerned about his pace. But I agree it’s a bit frustrating he’s taken off in certain games

Yea this was definitely the mind set but Auba was quiet in the 2nd half and Laca was easily our most threatening player, definitely should have played the full match

It wasnt Laca going off that meant we "lost that spark". It was because Ramsey went off.

Hold on bruv, i'll just message him and get back to you when he responds

He runs a lot. Maybe Emery thought he was knackered.

Only thing I can think is that Auba was working hard on the flanks. You could see the number of times he got back.

I don't like how negative we went after the first goal. Gave Chelsea complete control, they probably would've equalised if they had a striker.

Maybe Emery has a grudge towards Lacazette and Ozil just like Sarri has towards CHO and Emerson.

Why is it bad that we won???

I would say that had more to do with Bellerin going Off, the winger just brought on going to RB and Elneny coming on. But each to their own.

Yesterday Lacazette’s agency tweeted something like "is that one subs too many?" With the hashtag #byebye.
It's clear that they are not impressed by the way he has been managed so far

Lacacette is too important for us to let him play fully 90 min in a game we looked relatively comfortably.

We have only two strikers available. Cant have him injured.

Not at all surprised about Lacazette's subs. Lacazette is an amazing worker. He presses very well and defends. That simply means he tires after 60/70 mins. Aubameyang on the other hand is taller and far more likely to hold the ball up and is stronger in the air. Its an option we have missed since Welbeck was injured. Tactically Auba stays more central and makes runs of a 'traditional' striker.
