Biggest net profit in football history

Liverpool made huge money from the European run and have a number of lucrative sponsorship deals, acquired by CCO Billy Hogan.

With the Reds at the top of the Premier League table and in the knockout stages of the Champions League once again, it looks like 2019 could be a similarly impressive year financially.

“UEFA Champions League prize money of €82m drove Leicester City FC to the highest net profit in history in FY2017 (€98m), beating the previous record of €78m set by Tottenham Hotspur FC in FY2014 (with Liverpool FC set to break that record again in FY2018)."

This is a statement on UEFA’s website today, which has been sourced and investigated by Inside World Football.

Journalist David Owen has claimed that Liverpool’s run to the Champions League Final in 2018, combined with the sale of Coutinho to Barcelona, will culminate in Liverpool posting the biggest annual net profit of any club in history – beating Leicester City’s €98m from 2017 – when they reached the Champions League quarterfinals on a comparatively shoestring budget after winning the Premier League.

Interesting to see if we will spend big again in the summer

Considering we were nearly in administration with our old owners the club is really moving in the right direction now

And it’s all self generated 👍

The owners have made some smart off the field decisions like the stadium expansion, the new training complex, signing commercial deals.

On the footballing side they have appointed Edwards and Klopp who work as a unit to get the right players who fit the playing style.

Since Klopp and Edwards have been together we get money for our players, getting what we got for the likes of Sakho Benteke etc was brilliant. Selling players like the lad we got free from spurs Kevin Stewart from around the same price we got Robertson for. IBe, Solanke, 6m for Smith also great business.

They've made mistakes still though, turning down 11m for Moreno for example . Letting Can run his contract down. Hope they can sell Origi too before hes moves for free like Can, Moreno, Sturridge and Markovic will. Should have cashed in on these years ago, even if it meant a significant loss in Markovic case.

fact remains that we also need enough players on the training pitch each week, and keeping those extras at a certain level to push the first teamers costs..

Would you rather Allisson trains against sturridge or an under 18?

These numbers are "projected"

We are simply looking for the results when actually posed for th year ending may 2018 and year ending may 2019 to say what profit we make or not.

You have done some great business. But most years will be a record due to inflation, in 1905 for example the highest net profit was
£1; 17s ; 8d.

Allows us to spend big again, the £19m for Solanke will be well received too.

True i was more on about markovic n moreno, at the time we clubs were bidding for him we were linked to chillwell for 10m until we got robertson but we should have got both and accepted moreno offers. As for markovic what difference would that have made hes got nowhere near team anyway.

Studge is fine hes a good personality to have around the club from what ive seen but hes also still worth a good fee in the market and probably gna leave for free now. Atleast we got some mfs in since Can left for nothing. We are lacking forwards and once studge leaves hopefully we do the same there.
