What United fans on here said anything derogatory about OGS on here six weeks or so ago? I can only think of one who went off on one and he is the board idiot.

I wouldn't let Giggs or Ole anywhere near it.

---------------------------------------

----------------------------------------------------------------------

😂😂 he does it to himself as Radiohead once opined
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would you consider what he wrote derogatory? Reading comprehension clearly not your friend.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Saying you wouldn’t let someone near something is pretty derogatory.
----------------------------

Not really. Can just mean that you don't think that they have the experience for the job. Which Ole doesn't really. He was a risk. Hopefully one that will pay off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, it can mean that but the phrase doesn't suggest it. Come on... Some of you here are doing tap dancing around similar to religious people on a debate about the subject. You're having to do some real mental aerobics to get around the comment not being meant as a personal jab. Experience or not. The suggestion 'I'm not sure he has the experience for the job' is totally different to 'I wouldn't let him near it'

I feel were getting caught up on a specific comment though, which wasn't the intention. I'm not even suggesting VC was wrong for how he felt. I'm simply saying that opinions change very quickly and given the general concensus about how Ole has done, I think it should make people stop and think. Particularly when bashing other managers.
-------------------------

I don't know why VC wouldn't have given the job to Ole, but I disagree with this:

The suggestion 'I'm not sure he has the experience for the job' is totally different to 'I wouldn't let him near it'

I don't think that the two are different. One is an opinion on whether a manager should be given a job and the other is the reason for that opinion.

The born winner tag is a bit of a cliche. There are rightly question marks over Pochettino winning things but that’s not to suggest he won’t start winning loads in the future.

Ancelotti (I don’t consider the intertoto cup significant), Wenger, Ferguson, Allegri, Conte and Klopp took years to win their first trophies, for example.

Each circumstance is different, of course. But the point is that a manager can develop that ability to win trophies for their clubs at a different rate. Just because they keep failing doesn’t mean they always will. Look at Wenger. Went ten years without one then won 3 cups in 4 years.

Poch is a winner because he’s at a club who gave him zero money this summer and has gotten them into a great position in the table and into the next round of the CL

Do some United fans think GuardiOle is now a better manager than Poch? I'm genuinely interested.
-----------------------------------

Too early to say really. Ole has won trophies where Poch hasn't, albeit in an inferior league. His time at Cardiff wasn't good, but the owner is a bit mental and likes to interfere. It was a bad career move for him. That said, I do feel that he learnt from that experience, so ultimately the Cardiff job may be a positive for his career long term.

So far he has done extremely well following his return to England. If he keeps this up until the end of the season then there would be a real argument to be had.

But even if Poch is the better manager, that doesn't mean that Ole won't be a better choice for the United job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A good, balanced post.

At present, I'd have to say that Poch has shown he's a better manager at this level. Whether Ole can be a better manager/more successful at this level is still unknown, but quite possible.

I know Ole has done well in Norway, but didn't know many of the specifics. I read a few articles analysing his tactics, style and man management and it bodes well for him, whether with United or somewhere else.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What level are we talking about here Brightdave?? Ability to get top 4 and win sweet all?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ummm.... What level... The English Premier League.

Poch has done very well for quite a few years at the highest level of professional league football.

Up until a few weeks ago, Ole had only been relegated and sacked from the same league.

The "level" comment I made should not need explaining to anyone on this site. And you think others have trouble with comprehension
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You really are a bright fella. Are all managers plying their trade in the premier league on the same level? I am not bright like you and others here, so enlighten me? I am just a property and numbers man you see.... Nobb jump in.

For example, when Mourinho took over, I thought at that time you had the top level managers (Ferguson and Wenger) who were serial winners. Stupid me though, they were the same level as Ranieri because of course, ummm, he was premier league level.

What is it with Leicester fans constantly camping on other team's boards trying to take the moral high ground? Blackanus is another one who does that.
