Reserves

How can Fraser Fyvie be playing in the first team? The guy is nowhere near fit. So with him "playing" the way he is just now leaves us a man down right away imo. I thought that was what the reserves were for? Build up your match fitness and start angling for the first team, via the bench then more reserve team games then a first team start once your up to speed?

I went to the Partick Thistle game and Fyvie was terrible. Also, our manager was pathetic after the Jags scored, he did nothing tactically to change the game our way until half-time. For me watching that justifies my decision to give up my season ticket. This 4231 was good when we had the personnel to play that formation. Since GMS, Armstrong went we should never have entertained this formation.

I was looking forward to seeing the reserves playing again. Went to see them in the late eighties and nineties and that was what got me into the football. Seeing the promising youngsters playing with first teamers coming back from injury or on the fringes of the first team. I was at the reserve game where Ed Machin played, one of the finest displays I've ever seen in one game. Unfortunately, the passport issue scuppered us from signing him.

So the home games for the reserves are played at St. Andrews. Amateur hour. So our reserves never play at Tannadice unless they make the first team? I would want the players to be familiar with Tannadice but they would rather have a nice pitch which will serve up "the fantastic football of the first team."

I wouldn't have Fyvie in our starting XI and I agree that he should have been building up fitness in the reserves - he's miles off the pace. But at the same time we didn't have any options to replace him in the starting XI until now (which makes the decision to play him on Friday mystifying).
