Get this man a contract...

Solskjaer's comments vs Pochettino.

"We're Man United, you should always aim to win the league, we can't do that this year but we've just got to look forward to it again."

"We've got the Champions League, we've got the FA Cup, we can't just say top four and that's it,"
"We've got to look at 'can we win something this year?' and I go into every single game as a Man United manager thinking we can win this game."

"If you win trophies, that's a fantastic day for everyone in the club,"

"It's just the best time of your life that day when you win because you never know when the next one is going to come, the manager always said enjoy this whatever trophy you win."

Now these are the words of a Man United manager. Stark contrast to the word of Potless Pocc.

I don't think many of our supporters would have grasped the point you were making without the benefit of the Roman analogy.

The thing I took from it was the timing: was it coincidence that he made the remarks so soon after Pochettino's?

Blatant opportunism on Ole's part. He won't be immune to the lambasting of Pochettino in the media for his comments.

Since the days of Cicero, a good orator has been able to manipulate the mob with good rhetoric.

If Ole is a modern day Marcus Antonius appealing to the passions of the mob, Pochettino is Marcus Junius Brutus attempting to reignite the flame of republican virtue. The point I'm making is that fans don't want to be told that winning trophies isn't a priority

They inflated Man Utd transfers to make a point.

There's a marked difference in emphasis. I think this is meaningful, but not particularly in terms of defining the approach and mindset of the managers. The significance is more in reading between the lines. Pochettino's comment that he can't afford to make cups and top 4 an equal priority comes soon after pointed remarks about needing to change the investment model if Spurs are to progress. Solskjaer's comment can be read in establishing his credentials as the man who is moulded by Fergie's philosophy.

I assume you penned this from the comfort of your white van whilst sipping a brew with 7 sugars and wolf whistling at anything showing a bit of leg?

----------------------------------------------------------------------Yes, completely agree. I’d also add, as much as fans don’t want to hear it, Pochettino is absolutely right in that for Spurs to develop, top four is far more important than the league cup as they have to be in the best position to attract the best players possible. The club also needs the additional revenue as they go through the stadium move.

He didn’t say at any point he’d disregarded both and didn’t see them as important - his lineup against Chelsea in the semi final that led to Kane’s injury is testament to that too.

why do people try to read so much into others words, ffs 2 out the last 3 managers we've had basically gave up before the fight started, ole was around the club during one of its most successful times, he's used to the club being successful when he's around and wants us to keep it that way
