Youri Tielemans deal agreed

Fantastic news - the deal to bring Tielemans to the king power has been agreed - albeit on loan (which is a tad disappointing). This is a loan swap deal with Silva going to Monaco

Hopefully there is an option to buy in the summer for the speculates £20m. Great talent even though he’s been poor for Monaco but then so has everyone

Joby - Tielemans is more a no.8 really. Surging runs into the box, can pick out a pass but a real eye for goal as well. A much more talented Drinkwater (potentially). Would be inclined to play him alongside N’didi and Choudhury in a midfield 3.

Yes, my thoughts initially as well.

But then where do you play Maddison? Presumably a wide forward in a front three? That leaves one space on the other side for one of Albrighton, Barnes, Pereira or Gray.

Pereira on one side and Maddison on the other although Maddison should be a no.10. The other option is to drop N’didi and have two in midfield - keep choudhury in there

Puel has already gone on record as stating that Ndidi and Mendy need a partner to make a midfield 3. So I’d be shocked if he’s not played as one of the 3.

Hopefully this allows Mendy and Ndidi to just do the dirty work and allows us to better connect the midfield to the attack.

A 4-2-1-2-1 if you like (4-3-3).

You’re right though Joby, it leaves Albrighton and Barnes fighting for the other spot.

Gray can fight for his place on the bench for all I care and Pereira can drop to right back again.

Let’s be honest Tielemans will probably sit on the bench for the rest of the season while Mendy choudhury and N’didi sit in a completely defunct midfield 3

These things are always affected by form and we don’t actually have a clue how he will even adapt.

But in theory, if current players play to their potential - I’d suggest either as a two with another Cm and Maddison in front and two wide players (in theory Maddison and Barnes) or in a 3, with Maddison towards the left, but basically drifting in and switching with Tieleman with Chilwell overlapping (I’d want Maddison or Barnes drifting inside irrelevant of personnel or formation).

With regard to what Puel will do - haven’t the foggiest - I imagine incorporate him into the conveyer belt that is our ‘squad rotation’ due to all the competitions that we are in.

The real question is: “can he pass the ball sideways?”

I believe at his previous club he covered as a right back
I see a cunning plan

Blackadder: “Baldrick, you wouldn’t recognise a subtle plan if it painted itself purple and danced naked on a harpsicord singing ‘subtle plans are here again’.
