Man United Ladies V Arsenal Semi Final

So our women's team are in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup semi final against holders and 5 times winners Arsenal. And its going to be on TV, broadcast live on BT Sport 1 & 4K UHD.

I know many either don't care or have completely forgotten about our women's team, but they have done very well. Especially for a team of players brought together to form a new team at the start of the season (some of them were youth players are lower age groups at United). We're top of the Championship (second tier) and in the Semi of this Cup competition (others are City, Chelsea and, of course, Arsenal - all top women's teams in the country).

The ticket prices are very very cheap. £10 and £1 concessions, and if you get the tickets early it's £7.50. When I was in Korea, the prices were similar and if they didn't sell enough tickets half an hour into the game, you get in free. Though the games were not great (the coach at the time can be described as the Korean Pulis).

Anyone willing to watch the game on TV?

"Anyone willing to watch the game on TV?"

Yeah; not something I've ever done, tbh, but why not? Might actually help turn the missus on to football, and if it did, even just the tiniest bit, that might make life a lot more enjoyable

If anyone has young daughters who you want to get into football, this would help.

How are the United women doing in the league?

RAP

That would have been mildly amusing if United men were in the Championship. Better luck next time.

The women are on top of the Championship. Not bad for a team that was put together at the start of the season.

Most of us have smirked from time to time about women's football. As a parent, the message this sends my kids makes me pause a bit: do we want our little daughters and sons growing up thinking that female sportspeople are an inherently comic idea? There's no obligation to get into the MUFC women's side, but condescendingly dismissing it as an irrelevance feels kind of 'off'.

There is that, and I would probably have been one of those if it wasn't for my present circumstances and view.

There is a thing called representation. Basically, when you see someone like you represented in an area where you're not seen, or not seen positively, it does have an impact.

Riz Ahmed made a good point about this. And I'm not as good as him or you with words.

Some of the women in the current side were in the youth sides at United. But they couldn't fulfil their dream of playing for United as there used to be no senior side. That was until now. It may not be the same as the men's side but some of these girls had the same dream as many of us as kids and some of the players that are playing now, such as Lingard, Rashford and McTominay. The girls side now have something to step up to instead of having to look for a club or get a different career.

You could say the same about Asian players in both the men and women's game. There is a lack of them in all 4 top tiers. I doubt many can name any currently playing. This may change in the future but it needs at least one at the top and a few others also to come along and show it can be done.

Besides, they're part of the United teams and we as fans should support them as we would other levels (u15 to u23) within the club's structure.
