United caretaker manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says the club believes in Anthony Martial after the 23-year-old French forward signed a new long-term deal at the club on deadline day.
"It's confirmation we believe in him," he said. "He has had ups and downs but he now knows he is going to stay here.
"I believe in him. he is a fantastic finisher with great ability. I've not seen many players with the quick feet and skills he has. Hopefully he will grab the chance with both feet."
The interim Manchester United boss says he 'believes' in the Frenchman but says he doesn't score enough 'scruffy' goals.
Solskjaer thinks 20 a season is a realistic aim for Martial, whose most prolific season so far was 17 in his United debut campaign in 2015-16.
"He needs to make more runs in behind. As a striker, you need to read the game and sniff out chances. He needs to score more simple goals."

Nice to see Ole is identifying the weaknesses in our attacking players and looking to develop them in these areas.

In addition I'd like to see more variation in the way he takes players on. He needs to start beating people on the outside with more regularity.
If he can improve in both areas, it'll increase his chances of becoming a top forward.

Yeah I agree with that. I still remain unconvinced he’ll become a top forward, but hopefully he proves me wrong and works massively on his game.

Exactly how I feel. But the hive mind suddenly think I’m comparing him to Bebe 😂.

Stop saying hive mind, it’s not a thing. The cult of Martial is, however.
You do yourself no favours when you consider Willian a top player, though.

I don’t think he’s the very best. But I do think he’s a better realistic right wing option to improve us than anyone else has proposed

He’s not realistic and he won’t really improve us.

I meant he was realistic under Jose. But we would absolutely have been a better option than Lingard on the right

I don’t think it was realistic then. Chelsea never wanted to sell him.

And Willian wouldn't have improved us much, if at all. Would have been a terrible buy.

Would he? His output is marginally better than Jesse's, but would he link as well with Martial, Pogba and Rashford? Would his running create the same space for his team mate.
As I said, I do think Willian is a decent player, but you are over-rating him.
