Two things in football that annoy

1. The expectation for the opposition to put the ball out of play when an opposition player goes down.

A few weeks ago in the Spurs United game Sissoko came back onto the pitch injured and then decided to throw himself down again. We rightly continued to attack but the Spurs fans booed and Trippier attacked Martial for playing on. Ridiculous.

Different story if it’s a head or serious injury but then the referee should have stopped the game anyway.

2. No consistency with booking players for diving

How many times do you see players throw themselves to the ground, the ref waves play on but that’s the end of it?

It certainly happens more often than players actually getting booked for diving.

Watching the game today Atsu blatantly dived in his own half trying to relieve the pressure and the ref just played on.

Also, has the ban for diving been totally scrapped now?

Mandatory time off pitch unfairly penalises people who have been actually fouled (or accidentally hurt), need to get checked out and are okay to play on.

Same for all teams though.

Absolutely ridiculous idea. You can intentionally injure players throughout the game and player against town players. What happens if you injure three of your opponents? Play against 8?

You cant decide how hurt a person is. VAR should eradicate some of it. Restrospective punishment some more. That's as far as it can go

Yeah, because players are going to risk red cards for 3 moms of the opposition being a man down. Haha

If you are hurt bad enough to leave the pitch then it would take 2-3 mins for the physio to check you over anyway.

Yes because players get red cards for injuring players. Nearly as stupid a suggestion as punishing the injured player that you came up with earlier.

No worries, it doesn't surprise me.

Bit late to the party. But where a player can sythe someone down in the first few minutes and it's okay, as it's his first tackle and the game has only just begun. Players don't forget how to tackle from one game to the next, so the punishment shouldn't differ either.

Personally, I'm not a fan of running the ball into the corner either. Not only do I find it incredibly negative, but I also think that one example from 1989 is used to justify it every time. Whilst ignoring the times teams have thrown away goals with that tactic, and been hit on the break and lost

Agree 100% about stopping play, obviously for a serious injury it will happen but leave it to the ref. Reminds me of a few years ago in the NLD, when 2 Arsenal players collided, got up saw that Spurs were in a decent attacking position then both suddenly dropped to the floor hoping the ref would stop play. Spurs scored and Arsenal complained like hell. I don't think either player needed treatment.

I'm not also a big fan of deliberately running the ball into the corner flag near the end which makes it near impossible for an opponent to do anything other than boot it out or foul.

Running to the corner is not breaking any rules though. Very annoying when you’re on the end of it but it’s part of the game
