Soft Belly Continues

We had am article on here about the nature of goals conceding - individual errors that are costing us soft goals.

Today we see Jansson give the ball away in an awful position and then rushes back to give away a dangerous free kick. Forshaw then jumps with his back turned at the free kick to take the ball away from Kiko and into the corner.

Second goal Forshaw gives the ball away in an awful position and then goes and puts himself in a poor position playing everyone onside. We have done well to get a block in and defend the situation but Norwich got the run of the ball.

Third goal Douglas gives the ball away again in the same awful position. They get the run of the ball again as we defend the cross which falls lovely for their player to shoot. Douglas then turns his back on the shot and Kiko really should be saving that though.

Credit to Norwich for high pressure and some very good football but all 3 goals were soft.

There was a point today where I would be happy if Forshaw and Douglas never played for us again, they both looked so completely out of their depth.

The Pukki goal is incredible to watch Forshaw just standing there doing absolutely nothing, no reaction to anything. The free kick where he's at the end of the wall and goes foetal. What on earth is point of being in wall if you're going to collapse?

Forshaw is attempting to charge the free kick down. He has to be braver. Hes charged and jumped but made his body smaller by ducking and turning his head away. If he is brave then that ball hits his head and is cleared away.

Body on the line defending is what has given us this chance of promotion. Forshaw and Douglas turning their backs on shots is really poor.

Not only did Forshaw duck his head he also brought his knees up so if the ball had been smashed low it would have gone under him and into the net.

Weak.

like I said, he went foetal.

Team versus Boro then: Kiko, Shackleton, Pontus, Cooper, Alioski, Philips, Klich, Hernandez, Roberts, Roofe, Clarke.
Subs, Bamford, Brown, Harrison, Foreshaw,
Douglas, Ayling, BPF

I would start Bamford in place of Roofe next game.

We hit the bar and scored when Roofe and Bamford were on together. We were in their box and causing mayhem.
I think Roofe can play the false number nine role with Roberts, Klich and Pablo holding the midfield and KP in front of the back four.

2 things on that Bielsa, firstly Norwich were set up for most of match to deal with our starting 11, so changing it by having 2 strikers is bound to change the dynamics, but might not be the same as a starting 11, secondly Norwich are crap at defending corners!
