What players do we get this Summer?

Just wondering what everyone’s opinion is on who we should be signing this summer ? We are looking comfortable (touch wood) for a top 4 place, but next summer under no circumstances should there be any excuse not to invest and improve the side for next season.

Next summer for me is massive in regards to where we want to be as a club and how we portray our ambitions to our current players. I think it’s fair to say, we need a top centre midfielder and like I keep saying a top attacker.

Me, personally I would go all out for either Zaha or Timo Werner. 2 excellent forwards who currently are realistic options and can play across the whole forward line if need be, which means we can interchange if say Kane gets injured again. Would honestly go full in for Zaha if we can’t get Werner.

In terms of centre midfield, I would go for a tenacious quality defensive midfielder like a Diawara from Napoli. 2 top quality signings like this would improve us. Then a young attacking midfielder wouldn’t go amiss either. So 3 players for me in the mould of Zaha/Werner, Diawara and a young attacking midfielder. Thoughts ? This is of course if we retain Toby and Eriksen by the way

Thanks MK

Adding another homegrown player to the list in itself doesn't help you though.

The potential problem is that you've got a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players that you can register, full stop.

Then you can make your squad up to 25 with homegrown players.

If you let Trippier, Rose and Davies go, you'd have Alli, Kane, Dier and Winks left I'd guess. Which would leave you with a squad of 21 and zero wiggle room to bring in any non-homegrown players.

If you've got talented youngsters ready to step up from your academy that's not necessarily a problem; otherwise you're looking light on personnel.

If I were Levy, I'd be hanging on to the British squad players, actually looking to sign more to bolster the numbers, and saving the non-homegrown spots for players who would improve the first XI.

There aren't many cheap, homegrown like-for-like replacements for the likes of Rose or Trippier. The other option, of course, is trying to get ahold of the same top young English talent that everyone else wants and parent clubs are desperate to keep. But I cannot see Levy getting into bidding wars over those kind of players.

Rose and Davies will stay ( thought Davies counts non homegrown in Europe ).

Kane, Winks, Dele, Rose, Davies, KWP plus wan-Bissaka & zaha we’d be set.

Plus maybe the like of Onomah will be given a chance next season too.

There should be just about enough wriggle room.

Although we probably just go another summer without buying anyone

Think we'll end up with just ONE that great West African CM called Fakin Nowone.

Defo outs: Llorente, nkoudou, Janssen, Vorm
Maybe outs: Wanyama, Eriksen, Lamela, Davies, Aurier, Trippier
Defo ins: Forward, all round quality CM, first choice athletic RB
Maybe ins: LB, playmaker, beast DM

First of all we need new contracts for Toby and Eriksen if possible. It looks unlikely, but needs to be done if possible.

Vorm and Llorente are out of contract so almost certainly will leave.

Nkoudou and Janssen will leave if we can find somebody to take them.

I`d like to see us bring in a pacey forward capable of playing in Kane`s position as well as out wide, two central midfielders, one defensive and one creative, a quality pacey RB if we can offload Aurier and maybe some more competition for Eriksen / eventual successor. I would be happy to keep Davies and Rose, Davies is steady enough and can also play at LCB.

The absolute dream window would be:

OUT
Rose (good but can't play 2 in a week)
Llorente
N'Koudou
Janssen
Vorm
Wanyama
Aurier
Trippier

IN
Wan-Bissaka
Chilwell
N'Dombele
Zaha
Isco

Imagine that

I do think Eriksen and Alderweireld will go too. Presumably Foyth and/or Sanchez would be expected to fill the gap, which would be a short-term risk, but Foyth could be quality in the future.

Achievable alternatives to the overly expensive ones would be Lookman instead of Zaha, Loftus-Cheek instead of N'Dombele and keeping Eriksen instead of Isco.
