There is no doubt we stormed the Championship, and were one of the best, if not the best teams to ever win it. Nobody could be sure how well we would adapt to Premiership football, but we now look like we easily belong.
But just how good are we? The bottom clubs, struggle to score and keep clean sheets. The middle clubs can generally keep clean sheets, but struggle to score. which is where we have been most the season.
The top clubs keep clean sheets and score goals for fun. which is where we seem to be now. If we had this team at the start, those silly defeats and draws would almost certainly be different, and we would be serious challengers for a top six spot.
If we accept the gap to the top six is probably too big to overcome now, Is our team as it stands, good enough to challenge for a top six, next season?
How good are we?

It would certainly take a bigger club than Everton to prise Everton away from us. I think Everton May be wise being patient with their current manager, but I suspect they might not be. I don’t think they have ever really recovered from selling Lukaku and not replacing him. Richarlison is a decent player but a centre forward he ain’t

Wolves are an extremely decent side and I don’t think many people would have predicted Wolves would be where they are now.
I think patience is key. Don’t expect to be fighting with the larger/better clubs within the first 3 years. Just make the necessary improvements. As one poster said once FFP takes PL revenue into account rather than Champ rev then your transfers will improve greatly.
Fosun seem like smart decent owners who are investing wisely. Even if they get bored or something in a couple of years, their wise business decisions will make you more attractive to richer owners.
Keeping hold of your players is key. However, you can’t guarantee that so you need to make them more valuable to Wolves. this could be done from regular contract renewals so that you aren’t left in a weak negotiating position. That way when a club wants a Jota or a Neves they’ll have to fork out 60m+ for them. Use that money to buy a number of players with high potential.
My brother supports wolves and has never seen them beat my team Arsenal. I suspect that could change in April

Thank you for a well reasoned post. I for one really appreciate it. We have waited many years to become a top side again, and it does feel that we are at least now competing. Earning the respect of others is key to our establishment as a Premier League side.

Having watched the FA Cup hand at West Brom last night, it is clear we are miles ahead of them now. They had a top division side playing against them, at their lower league venue, and it looked as though the stadium was a quarter full at best.
Contrast that with Wolves laying a lower league side, (even lower that Wet Bum), and selling out.
What can we assume?
