Nigel Pearson Sacked

Going from strength to strength.....

I've been following the Leuven thread over on Foxestalk and this really isn't a surprise. They have had an appalling season and are on the brink of relegation to the third tier which is, essentially, an amateur league on a par with National League North.

Leuven fans are very upset about how KP have managed the club and the apparent lack of involvement from Top. Considering that Leuven was suppose to be our sister club which would be a way for us to potentially exploit loopholes and blood youngsters in a European league, it's surprising that there seems to be so little thought or activity. And with the impending disaster of Brexit looming, having the option of using Leuven as an option to sign up good European talent without the need for work permits to see what they are like before we sign. Sadly this won't be an option if Leuven are relegated.

As for Nigel, unfortunately his limitations as a manager without the support of Shakey and Walsh have been shown again. He's an average manager and an average coach. I would be amazed if any English club inside the top 2 divisions were willing to give him a chance apart from maybe a Rotherham or an Ipswich.

Good points Foxello. Pearson has clearly struggled without Shakey and Walsh.

But with that pair free again, would you say that pearson shouldn’t be afforded another chance if the dream trio hooked up again?

I’d certainly give them a try if I was a championship team.

As for Leuven, it’s a shame for them and hopefully our owners plans can see longer term success. I’m guessing the immediate goal is to stay up!

Clears the way for him to take over at the KP as caretaker manager once Claude gets the boot afterwe lose against Spurs , Palace and Brighton.

I cringed when I heard this news- I thought, oh no, what has he done or said now? I'm glad to hear that it's just for footballing reasons!

Mersey; in all honesty, I don't think so. Clearly having the whole management team would be a better option than Pearson on his own, which is frankly a car crash waiting to happen, but I don't know a) whether Shakey and Walsh would drop into the Championship again or b) whether a Championship chairman would want to deal with all the baggage that NP has and his rather odd behaviour at times.

The hard reality is that NP hasn't had any success for 4 years now and his last two spells, albeit without his trusty assistants, have been disastrous. There are better available options than NP.
