Gomez having surgery

Worst nightmare confirmed. Gomez is having surgery on his fractured leg which will rule him out for the majority of the rest of the season. Got to feel for the guy. He cemented his place alongside VVD and when they were to together they were the best centre back pairing in the league by a country mile. The stats don't lie!!

What I think we also lose is the way Gomez played the ball out from the back. He played it forward nearly all the time and he started many attacks. When Lovren gets the ball he panics and plays it to the wrong players on so many occasion usually resulting with the player receiving the pass then being put under pressure.

I would feel a lot more comfortable knowing we had Joe in the remaining games instead of Lovren and Matip.

Huge blow for us!!

Gomez bones are made of weetabix, as good as he is or can be im no longer gna be pinning hopes on him and if Klopps smart enough he wont either. Hes already had numerous injuries hes claiming theyve all been impact injuries but if you look at the one he got for England and vs Burnley they didnt look bad challenges.

Lovren isnt good enough, on top of that hes only completed 6+ games in a row twice in his Liverpool career anyway.

Matip is another injury prone player dont think hes played 3 in a row? certainly wont be played 2 a week often.

Seriously expecting to see us relying on Fabinho at CB or that 16 year old kid before the seasons over. Needs addressing in the sumer for sure.

Using your logic on Gomez we'd not have relied on Gerrard and got a replacement for him, considering his injuries at a young age also. Gomez has suffered so bad injuries due to impact, it's not like he keeps picking up random muscle injuries. Give the guy a chance.

Matip is a good player he is too timid at times though and also made of weetabix. Definitely have him over Lovren. Could do with someone like Slab head, seems reliable, decent on the ball great physically just a bit slow but not much slower than Lovren n Matip.

Rather not live in hope and get it sorted, if he does come back and complete a full season great but if not and we havent got someone reliably fit alongside VVD then thats on us.

Hes already missed 86 games and counting for us 504 days injured only been here 3 years?

Lovren isn't slow. I'd prefer him over Matip if he wasnt injured as although Matip is great on the ball, he's sometimes weak in the challenge. Both good backups however. Such a shame we've had these injuries all at the same time but I expect us to come through it with the squad we have.

No wonder we're sixth with those three partnering VVD.

Get rid and buy three more footballers who just dont get injured and are better.

He did his cruciate and fractured his leg. These aren't injuries because he's injury prone, they can happen to anybody. You're blowing it way out of proportion which seems to be a common theme on this board lately.

So what happens when other players get impact injuries, which they will, are they then unreliable? Do we sell anybody who gets injured and buy the ones with the no injury attribute?
