Stadium Update

Anyone heard anything about the club supposedly making a statement this week re the "safety system issues", test events and possible 1st home game.

Heard a couple of people mentioning it was supposed to be early this week ?

I saw something in the press yesterday saying the "issues" whatever they really are not fixed and a more realistic date was now likely to April and not March given Palace's FA Cup involvement & no chance of an Arsenal home opener

If that's the case, lets just bag it for this season and stay at Wembley, as much as we all hate it...... Its not harming results

I know what you mean, but the grand opening will feel like such an anti climax given the fact it is pretty much at the end of the season, for then it to be the summer break and then back to the stadium we go again 6 weeks later

if we left it to the start of next season, it would feel more like a spectacle

i dont know, if it helped the team, i suppose that would be the main thing but, i'd like it to be a huge reveal at the start of next season. that's just me though

kinda feel that a grand opening is secondary.

The club have refunded STs and are effectively forgoing loads of revenue every game as well as paying to use Wembley. This will cost us in the long run.

I know we might need to get used to the stadium, but lets do that now. Our title chances are quite slim, lets have zero excuses next season.

I see no downside whatsoever to opening it asap.

What I am wondering is ....is there a minimum crowd to qualify as a test event ?
Unlikely we will get 40k+ for a reserve or legends game.

Think one test event has to be around 20k and the close to full.

No problem. Just going on what arsenal did for there’s.

First was a open training session and the second was bergkamps testimonial.

Hopefully our fans see they are needed and help fill out the place

Guess it isn't the quality of the game, it's a chance to get into that stadium so won't be short of numbers.
If I recall the 2 test events planned before the original opening date WERE just that, a reserve game and then legends. Here's hoping Brighton go out of the FA Cup tonight.
