Young

Expected to sign a new 1 year contract in the next few days according to SSN and other media outlets. Being rewarded for his good form over the last year. He turns 34 in June, thoughts?

As much as I hate watching Valencia dummy the ball 5 times, then either pass it backwards or smash it against the shins of the first defender, I’d prefer to see him start.

Did you not watch him the last game he started, think it was against Newcastle. He was beyond atrocious, Needs to retire as he's finished. Can't pass, cross, run or do anything that resembles a footballer anymore.

He strikes me as the kind of player Fergie would keep in his squad: fantastic professionalism and match-savvy experience. He'll come in and perform a range of roles whole-heartedly. Not a guaranteed starter but not going to sulk on the bench. I imagine a valuable presence in the dressing room and on the training pitch, and a through-line back to the Manchester United culture we want to preserve.

TBF on Ashley vs Leicester... he did have a go at Lukaku a couple of times for his inability to actually move into spaces where he could pass the ball to him.

Young is good as a back up (which I assume he'll be next season). He can play both FB positions, so we would need cover there. I doubt he'll complain if he is used sparingly. Dalot is also young and can play both positions. Then there is TFM who has had bad loans due to managers changing. He started both well and dropped when the new manager came in. Maybe Ole should give him a call to help perk him up.

We need to sort out CB, DM and RB before we think about RW. But it all depends on who is available.

As Young has generally been the most productive fb for us even nowadays, says a lot about why he has been offered this 1 year extension.

If we can't get in a replacement for him in the summer, then he is used for back up/rotation. But if we find a suitable replacement, then that is 1 more year for extra player value (i know not much) to haggle with the potential buyer with. So all in all a good business strategy from United

Good news! Young brings experience, quality and plenty of effort.

He's not going to always be a starter so having him fill in where needed is very valuable.

The problem with Utd is, we just ain't ruthless enough. too much sentimentality is the reason why we have been so poor over the past 6 years. A player/manager past their best need to be moved on quickly.

To be fair, we sacked Van Gaal while he was cuddling the FA Cup.

He should have been sacked back in December for that terrible run in form. 5 months too late.

Moyes should have been sacked the moment he removed all the back room staff, and Jose should have been sacked at the end of last season.
