Racism in London clubs

What is the big rise in racism at London clubs this season??

Spurs, Chelsea, Millwall and now West Ham fans have all been caught at it this season. London is the most multicultural place in the UK so why is this happening?

I know all clubs have idiot fans and I am not singling out one set of fans but how come it is happening at London clubs and why do other fans sit there and let this happen around them? If I was at a football ground and heard a fan giving racial abuse I would have a word with them not laugh along

This is the latest one from the lovely Hammers fans aimed at Salah the other night https://twitter.com/livechonews/status/1093171253328912385?s=21

The treatment Salah is getting I’d be surprised if he doesn’t want out of this league at the end of the season.

There isn't a rise in racism - the publicity and the way it gets called out over here should show you just how racially tolerant this country is.

Look at other European countries (with the same European Racism laws as us) and their levels of racism where its institutionalised. Worse things happen every week in Italy and Spain. No one says anything there because there's no point - they are racist countries and no one will take any notice.

This country has bent over backwards to accommodate people of all races and religions over the last 60 years and enabled their children and their children's children to move up the economic ladder. That's why there is such a focus on the non white £ in modern marketing - whether its in music, food, retail. Its because this great country has welcomed new people and new communities and given them the same chance as the indigenous population.

Go to Italy, Spain, Greece and you wont see many non traditional indiginous people driving nice cars or in a suit working in a leading company.

Instead of constantly knocking the UK, I wish the people here would start looking overseas and saying those countries need to get their house in order and pull themselves up to the 21st century. And not just European countries. I go to India, Nigeria, South America as well as Malaysia regularly and those countries have got endemic issues with race, religion and class.

Going off my own experiences, I would agree with that. There has been a rise in racism. Although I would say that this has been particularly aimed at Muslims. Which has been fulled by the recent/ongoing trials around the rape/grooming gangs. An issue that hasn't been helped by the authorities ignoring these issues for so many years. In an attempt to calm race relations by not investigating such crimes, they have served to do the exact opposite and we have seen a rise in suspicion and hatred aimed at the Muslim community.

It comes as no surprise to me to hear that the abuse aimed at Salah was Islamophobic.

Kick it out has said there’s been an increase in the amount of racial abuse being reported.

But according to some it’s not a major problem.

Half the problem is people go around looking for racism with their antennae on high alert. Its sad, in that way we've become like America.

The UK did not bend over backwards. It illegally colonized half the world, you reap what you sow
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See every country in the world has played Empire and colonization at some stage - this isn't reaping what you sow at all. The first empire which colonised lands was the Egyptian, then came the Assyrians. Do the people of Egypt and Iran, Iraq owe a debt or do you conveniently draw your own opinionated line ??

Also, that attitude grates - your statement about reaping what you sow??? what exactly does that mean because it sounds a bit menacing.

Didn't say it wasn't a major problem (go back to school and work on comprehension). My point was lets widen the scope of inspection to other countries at the same time - and why not? Its gotta be important especially in a multicultural country like ours which invites people in from other countries. Its important that the people we invite in are also tolerant and that can only happen if that's how they are brought up in their own countries - right?

Multiculturamism and mass immigration is punishment for the Empire? Sounds like that's what you meant.

I saw something on tv about that a few weeks back how the complaints have been increasing a lot every year and I thought basically that more people are using the app to report abuse than they were before which must be a big factor in the increase. I doubt many people knew about the app let alone using it a few years ago.
