Players out of contract

In the interest of a bit of debate here’s a list of 10 players who’s contracts expire at the end of this season.

Who, if any, do we think should be offered a new one or extension?

For me, only Roos and possibly Huddz another 1 year.

I haven’t seen enough of Elsnik but believe he’s promising. If his wage demands aren’t excessive then maybe give him a chance..

Bryson
Butterfield
Johnson
Olson
Nuge
Huddlestone
Pearce
Roos
Elsnik
Blackman

I liked Kris Commons, he played well when we had Shefki Kuqi in the team. Nigel made a big mistake dropping him for that bloke whose name I can't remember, from Wales I think.

Good memory VC, I'd forgotten about Kuqi, his Wikipedia page has this gem included:

"Kuqi joined fellow Championship side Derby County on a three-month emergency loan deal on 13 September 2010. His first Derby goal, in his third appearance, also, came against Crystal Palace in a 5–0 Derby victory at Pride Park. After latching onto a sloppy stray backpass from former-Derby defender Claude Davis to complete the rout with a goal Kuqi joked that the strike was "the worst of the five!" "

Good old Clod, he'd make a good double act with Lilly

Thought Kuqi (who was really awful) was dropped in favour of Luke Moore. Strange days, Derby played for a few weeks like world beaters and then finished in their lowest league position under Clough. It was the game at Burnley which started our demise.

That was an odd season spart, I remember well an observation by I believe it was Steve Claridge on "the championship" after we had won again, and won well during that purple patch which had us in 4th place in possibly November, with the flowing football on display. He said something along the lines of "derby must now be discussed as serious promotion contenders. They have been patient with clough for a couple of years as he sorts the squad out, they've slowly improved every season, and now it looks like they are really ready to kick on and contend". Then we went and dropped off a cliff.

Well it's plain to see with our progress since the Kuqi et al days, that our current league position and free-flowing/high scoring style of play, that backhanders by agents trump natural football ability any day of the week.

Ahh the Alberto Bueno days, 4-2-3-1 Tommy Cywka on fire. KFC making forest look 5hite. James Bailey and Robbie Savage sideways-ing it onto Bomber Brayford.

Then the non hold up play of Luke Moore happened... WTAF

Yes I remember now, it was Luke Moore who stopped us going up. I'll never know why Nige dropped the great (big) Kuqi, we didn't do as well afterwards.

Did he come from Swansea?

The reason Nig dropped Kuqi was because he was rubbish. Luke Moore wasn't an improvement though.
