Before I slit my wrists...

...can we discuss some of the positives about the team at the moment?
Here's five reasons why I think we can push on from here:
1) Our injuries are easing off and we can put players in their natural positions. Players are going gel again and they will rebuild their understandings with each other. I expect us to grow stronger in defence.
2) Bamford is a natural striker and brings something special to the team. Many posters have pointed out that he's not fit for 90 minutes, but he can add a huge amount of value in 20 minutes.
3) Brown is now fit for purpose. We know what he brought to Huddersfield and reports from the under-23's suggest he can bring class to our midfield.
4) Bielsa now has options for tweaking his team at different times in the game. If he needs to break a team down, defend a lead, or attack on the break, he has players who can do this.
5) Bielsa has an amazing capacity to make good decisions at the right time. He learns quickly and brings young players on. He is not afraid to change things on and off the field. I can't remember a season where we have rescued so many points from losing positions.
It's very easy to criticise players, the management and Bielsa, especially when we are in a bit of a slump, but we should also remember what Bielsa is achieving with the players at his disposal. Expectations have quickly built up and we all feel a desperate longing for promotion. You can hear it in the crowd and you see it on this board, but if we stand back for a moment, let's just think about where we are right now. Second on goal difference, three points ahead of third place. Is promotion a reasonable expectation for us? We had a lot of good fortune during our unbeaten run, but the number of compelling wins (eg Derby) are less frequent. Other teams are catching up with us, some of them have sussed us out, and for many, the visit of Leeds is their match of the season. Did I mention that this is Bielsa's first season in England, in what is arguably the most competitive league in the world? I think we need to temper our expectations with the realism that we have probably over-performed in terms of points, and our recent results may be a truer reflection of our ability. This is not to say I am pessimistic about our chances but rather, that our team is giving it everything. Players are making mistakes, yes, but I have never felt that there is a single player who is not giving it 110%. That commitment is fantastic and makes me so proud of our team. This is Bielsa's greatest achievement so far and bodes well for the future. Let's keep our feet on the ground, our heads up, and our defibrillators in emergency mode.

Some good points but I think many are angry about January and the Norwich loss.

"Defibrillators in emergency mode" good one!

Good article, lots to still be positive about.

Frustration comes from the fact that if we’d bought well in the window, we’d have increased our chances massively.

Still a lot to play for, just going to have to do it the hard way.

Agree think the frustration is from a lack of signings and some of the basic errors we made against Norwich.

After boro and Swansea we have 10 days before our next games - which are 3 in 6 days. Will be good to rest up and allow 2/3 others to come back into the fold in that period.

According to a statistician on Twitter, we need 30 points to be sure of promotion.

That means (for the sake of keeping things simple), we need to find 10 wins out of the following fixtures:
Boro (A)
Swansea (H)
Bolton (H)
QPR (A)
West Brom (H)
Bristol (A)
Reading (A)
Sheff Utd (H)
Millwall (H)
Birmingham (A)
Preston (A)
Sheff Wed (H)
Wigan (H)
Brentford (A)
Villa (H)
Ipswich (A)

Given what I've seen so far, the squad we have available now and the players that will be coming back to us as time goes on, I personally am really struggling to find more than 6 defeats out of this lot.

It'll be a hard grind to the end, but as far as I'm concerned, the ball is very much in our court.

Ok, so we need to find 3 draws out of this lot as well.

What makes you think the 56% win rate will continue?
It’s football, anything can happen.

56% includes some teams we have played twice. At least two of those are in the top 6 or so.

Perhaps, we should look at the percentage from just the first half of the season where each team was only played once?

The past will be repeated ?
