An interesting thread on twitter about Luis Campos who served at Monaco as director of football between 2013 and 2016, eight of the players he signed ended up in the Championship winning team of 2017. He is now at Lille who sit 2nd in Ligue 1.

Considering how successful Monaco were, this is pretty impressive
Now taking a look at the title winning Monaco team.
8 of the usual starting lineup from that season were signed by Campos (Silva, Lemar, Sidibe, Mendy, Glik, Jemerson, Fabinho, Bakayoko) and Carrillo and Jorge who were squad players in that season were also signed by him.
Also to note, the players who were important within the squad that he didn't sign were quite old with the exception of Mbappe and Toure who came through the academy
Falcao - 30
Subasic - 31
Moutinho - 29
Dirar - 30
Germain - 26
The Average Age of the permanent signings he made was 21.8
The Average Age of permanent players sold was 25.2
Campos likes to invest in young talent and it's evident with this stat
Now we will look at the profit Monaco made off of Campos' signings
B.Silva - 45m
Abdennour - 22m
Bakayoko - 40m
Cavaleiro - 8m
Carrillo - 18m
Fabinho - 45m
Saint Maximin - 10m
Lemar - 60m
Jean - 3.5m
Mendy - 50m
Total Income 301.5m
These players were bought for 92m
Profit 209.5m"

His track record seems to show that he signs highly talented young players for very little with a large sell on value. This is helpful if any of our future players have a "dream" of playing for Real or Barca. We can move away from Ed's Galactico model and invest in training players with the talent and drive to be great. If we need a big signing... well even Ed can do that job.
Not a bad option...
Negatives: Thinking Bakayoko was a good player.
The press have also linked us with him...

Seems a more exciting and proven DOF than the guy who was at Southampton imo, thoughts?

Looking at his merits from this angle, that is a quite impressive resume.

It's very impressive! I also feel Ole would enjoy working/collaborating with him if they both get the jobs.
Ole keeps on reiterating how much he enjoys working with footballers who want to improve.

This article is interesting regarding the same topic. There are interesting bits about the failure to sign a CB last summe.

Would be a very interesting appointment.
Looks like his brief was to buy low and sell high which wouldn't be the case at United.
With a bigger budget it could be a very exciting appointment

If he can rid us of Jones and Smalling he gets my vote

Surely Rojo should leave before either of those two?
