Of course he involves himself with the spraying of the ball, but he lacks the tactical nois like modric to shape play like a chess board. Sometimes the simple passes allow the team shape to move in a direction. Don’t get me wrong, in a set up that suits, like now, he’s given the opportunity to display his plethora of talents, and chiefly his great vision, where he can make things hapoen- but a true world clas xm would be able to build simply, pogba generally can’t. He’s a Hollywood pass, dribble player. A very good one. But he’s not a world class Cm, just yet..

Nah, dont agree with this.
I'm sort of with you in that I prefer a CM who can dictate the play like Modric/Scholes/Xavi etc. But it doesn't mean that any midfielder who doesn't fit that criteria cant be world class. Gerrard and Lampard never did (to that level anyway) and I dont think there's any doubt that they were both world class players. I think it's the sort of thing that's down to personal preference. Because Pogba is capable of a whole plethora of things that Modric isn't.
To be considered truly world class he'd have to sustain this form over a period of time. But if he does there would be no doubt about it.

Do you think pogba is woetld class? I ask because he needs a lot of set up and factors to perform at his best. And don’t get me wrong, when thats in place, he very good..but to me, a true wortld class Cm, can dictate the whole game. I’m not convinced I’ve seen him do that yet..
He strikes me as an outstanding chance creator, he feels closer to a no10 than he does a Cm.
Doesn’t seem to dominate games unless he has the right support..
I’m not taking anything away, he’s got some anazing abilities and it’s joyful to see recently..but I do think there’s a question mark tactically about him (if viewed as as a Cm, rather than a quasi-free role)

Baz we'll carry on to disagree about this one, this logic means that Pogba can carry on scoring and assisting in every game and he still won't be world class because he didn't control the game. Not every world class midfielder controls a game and there have been many.
His attributes and what he offers are absolutely world class for me but maybe we just define world class differently.
For example I thought Beckham was world class because there was nobody in the world who could whip a ball like him. He consistently found his man from crosses, consistently scored world class free kicks and corners. He could compete against the best and come out on top. If Pogba can compete against the best midfielders and defenders in the world and still do his thing then for me he is world class.
There is no doubt for me that at THIS MOMENT we have the best midfielder in the world, nobody else is playing like this.
One thing I'm starting to agree with you on though is that Shaw's crossing is gash. Although I do rate the other aspects of his game.

We're Gerrard and Lampard world class?
I see Pogba more as a "CM" in their mould than Scholes and Modric.

He’d probably be better than Smalling š

Of course they were and certainly both better than Pogba.

Having read the comments he made, I think he was talking about deploying him deeper in Midfield rather than meaning a CB. Could be a language issue here.
He thought he could turn him into akin to Modric or Pirlo when Pogba is more like Lampard/Gerrard.

Do I think Pogba is world class? As I said, he'd have to sustain this form. But if he does then yeah, no doubt.
I just dont really get why he has to dictate the whole game to be considered world class, or why you would even want him to. That just isn't what he does as a player, and if you ask him to try you would end up taking away some of his strengths.
The fact he needs the set up to be right is kind of irrelevant. It applies to every player to a certain extent, and logic would dictate that if you have a world class player you would build around him anyway.

In that case he is a specialist midfielder and cannot be considered a true Cm. Things true cm’s can do he lacks, but he can do things true cm’s also can’t.
Got s fair way to go before I’d consider him world class, prolonged form and doing it against the best.
