Incredible Team workrate

Arsenal have covered the most distance this season

1) Arsenal 2,878 km Distance per game : 115.1
2) Spurs 2,870 km Distance per game : 114.8
3) Bournemouth 2,858 km Distance per game : 114.3
4)Chelsea 2,839 km Distance per game : 113.6
5) Newcastle 2,835 km Distance per game : 113,4

Yet none of the Arenal players are in the top 10 or top 20 of most covered ground which only implies Emery has turned Arsenal into a unit where everyone is working for each other. This rarely happened previously when scene such as Alexis the only one running and hustling around while Ozil was strolling was common.

Unai has no doubt set up great foundation for Arsenal, once he gets trusts and the right budget Arsenal should only get better.

Thats a bit of a stupid comment but I will let it pass..

The context being Arsenal's terrible off ball and imbalance under work rate under Wenger has been corrected by Unai.

If you look at passes top 5 pass success rate

1) City 88.7
2) Chelsea 88
3) Liverpool 84.7
4) Spurs 83.5
5) Arsenal 83.2

Arsenal and Chelsea are both forming a new style of play similar to Spurs of high intensity, high passing and high work rate.

One of my favourite things about the best teams in the world is the amount of running they do.

And Arsenal are in the top 5 possession too....people look at the points and generalise everything. There is no doubt Unai is bedding new style at Arsenal a style that with right investment will take Arsenal to the top and definitely higher than Wenger's mess.

Actually with some reflections, that's not true. Grahams team never leaked so many goals

I agree. But at the moment the Arsenal squad lack players who can transition the ball quickly. People forget how hard the likes of Gilberto, Vieira, Freddie, Pires, and especially Denis worked off the ball. The difference is that they had very quick transitions around the pitch. Their first thought was to look forward and never pass backwards. I just don't know why Arsene changed his style to possession at all costs with so much sideways and backwards passing. Some of our players are still doing that unfortunately.

Graham's team never scored as many goals either, are we not the 3rd highest?

Yes, hence I said forming its not formed yet, I am sure Unai will be looking for similar players who can play to his system.

Glad he's got the team working hard out of possession but I hate the system being used, we don't have the defensive talent to execute it. The many mistakes have had the defenders doing so much running, the back line is injury plagued.

I remember the same thing happening to the MFs when Wenger switched to 4-3-3 and they had too much running to do. We need to keep the work rate but scrap the system until we have enough players good enough to use it well.

Yes. I hate the 3-4-3 with a vengeance. Teams press us high anyway because they know our centre backs are very limited passing the ball forward. That means we end up playing 5-2-3. Consequently we are outnumbered in midfield and can't pass the ball forward. At the beginning of the season we still had the likes of Welbeck who could win it on the wing in the air but Iwobi is not that kind of player.

My only hope is that Emery is playing that because he doesn't trust Mustafi in a back 4. So will go back to 4-3-3 when Sokratis comes back.

Our best game was against Chelsea and really that should be the strongest team till we make changes in the summer.
