Lost 3-0 to City in the league cup semi final today. Mason Greenwood out injured and boy does it show. Not sure if our team is actually good or not or Mason is just so good he makes them look better than they are when he's fit. There was literally nothing to our attack without him.
U18's slapped by City in semi final

It was a more even game than the scoreline suggests, although City were the better team today. They kept the ball and moved it well, but they hardly had our goal under siege and their first two strikes came from distance.
There were a few issues with our lineup. Injury and suspension left us playing with a makeshift defence with Garner at CB, and we really missed his presence in midfield (although I thought he was very good today).
Although Ramazani did pretty well on the left, we couldn't get Elanga on the ball nearly enough on the right. And Mellor isn't close to Greenwood's level, if he is even a CF.
With Levitt deeper in midfield in Garner's absence and Troare off the boil we didn't get the midfield linking with the attack so well. The boys up top had a lot of work to do on their own.
It wasn't a poor United performance, considering all the absences and the fact that City had an older and more experienced team out. We looked a little disjointed, but the lads fought well, played some tidy football, and created some decent chances, particularly in the second half.
The stand out player on the pitch was City's Nmecha, which is unsurprising given that he's been playing U23 football and made first team appearances. He'll be on his way to Spain or Germany in the summer, no doubt.

By my count they had four of their U23s playing today, SE85.

Yep; most Academy fixtures are broadcast live, as well as a good number of U23 fixtures and, I believe, all of the Ladies' games.

Cheers ross, I’m gonna subscribe. I’m optimistic than the club has turned a corner and it might once more be worthwhile keeping tabs on the academy.

I think it cost me something like EUR25 for a year's subscription. It's good value, I think.

Aye, there seems to be a lot of good content on MUTV, whenever I’m scrolling through the channels I always see it and think “keep meaning to get that” then immediately forget about it...
As for the U18s, of course we’d like the academy teams to play well and win things but ultimately it’s about progression to the first team and we’ve consistently out-peformed City (and most other teams) in that regard.
