Stadium dvelopment

Well some meat on the bones, I know some of this was already known from the fans parliament. But this is the Express and Stars take on it.

Steve Bull first (I remember watching it being built, you could simply walk in off the street into the opposite stand and take a seat) with a big push to increase the Corporate side.

The infamous Molineux Hotel...does anyone know who used to work there?

I heard there was a lot of lead in the pipes and that anyone that spent a good amount of time there now is prone to repeating themselves again and again and not being able to let go of the past.

Goodness knows what you're referring to. Probably a dig at someone who has actually supported the club for many years, as opposed to having only viewed, and criticised/sniped, from afar. Shame to have never actually got to visit the club at the various stages of its development over the past 40 or so years. It would have helped your own development.

The Steve Bull stand was of its time I guess in terms of construction, not sure what its intended design life was, people didnt really think about that in those days, just threw the buildings up and walked away. But its incredible to think that it is over 40 years old now. It actually looks alright now, full every week festooned with led panels, but still to many an emblem of an era when the ambition of the owners was not matched by the depths of their pockets, or ability to understand how loans worked and that they needed to be repaid.

Marshall's folly stood for many years across a newly created grassy meadow in a different postcode to the rest of Molineux, a replica of the new stand at the City Ground, even down the the red seats. A curious testament to a complete lack of joined up thinking, the Marshall plan gone wrong. Despite having watched my first Wolves game from its red seats and at various times been a season ticket holder in there, I wont be very sad to see it replaced.

I remember, not long after the stand was built, sitting in the old Waterloo Road stand opposite, and during a match noticing a huge metal sign fall from the front of its roof. It floated down going from side to side, narrowly missing a policeman. He'd have been decapitated! It got a mention in the paper.

I was there and saw it waft down in front of us - had a season ticket in that stand for six or seven years after moving from the Waterloo Road where I'd spent around ten years.

I think it was a contractors sign. Scary thinking back on it.

Remember that happening when we played Birmingham City one time and a big piece of roof fell down and landed pitch side.
