If I get stopped for speeding, I know, depending on the seriousness of the offence just what the maximum sanction will be.
If I rob something from Waitrose and get caught, I know what the maximum punishment will be.
The point is these things are prescribed by law, what the offence is what and what the punishment attached to that offence is.
I have searched on the internet to try and find the "utmost good faith" rule and look at the scale of fines. I can find nothing.
I get it that the rule is to cover all eventualities much like the any reasonable task clause in an employment contract but it seems to me that this is a political gesture and the fine is an arbitrary one drummed up to satisfy the EFL's own agenda.
We need a bit of Bates or Celino spirit in the regime because I am pretty sure this would not stand up in the court of arbitration for sport.

So some posted on Twitter that the maximum fine is £25k.
Maybe they decided multiple breeches deserved more?

Read Phil Hayes take on it in the YEP.
Think it's a good and fair synopsis of this saga.

Just read it and whilst it is good to have the whole thing done and dusted with, it is disproportionate fine and reflective of the EFL's attitude to our great club, Bates and Celino would not have rolled over and let them do what they want.

Right now the sole focus of the club needs to be on the pitch and getting sufficient wins/draws/points to get us promoted to the PL and away from the snouts in the EFL.
I'm sure Bates and Cellino would have fought on - personally, although reluctantly, i'm glad the club have settled and we can all move on.
If the legal types can revisit this in the summer, to retrospectively fight against a disproportionate fine - then that's the time to do it. Right now the club needs to get back, all the club, to winning on the pitch. That's where our battle(s) should be, between now and the end of the season.

Yes Els but they also wasted a hell of a lot of club funds in the courts.
This basically saves face on both sides and everyone moves on , in our case to the Promised Land!

What article did Klujvert get nailed with?

Not sure which incident you refer to? Raping a woman or killing a man? He should have been shot if it was for me.

If the football league take I to consideration the fact that he apparently asked us to scout every team we played before we played them them it was 28 games we looked at which works out at about 7k per infraction if we say we are being punished for each game we played in the championship

Thr EFL did a deal with Leeds for 200k to get Harvey to resign after his TV rights deal fiasco, he would go quietly, and the money would go towards his golden handshake.
AR was promised he will get next EFL TV deal for all the countries he has Eleven Sports operating, except UK.
