Just a bit of (more serious) fun....

Article below got me thinking, barring a huge collapse it looks like Ole will take take for next season on a permanent basis.

For the first time in what feels like forever, I've not been bothered about who we may or may not sign to improve the football, I've just enjoyed our games.

We've spent a LOT of money under Jose and LVG, a lot of it either wasted, some of it finally coming to fruition. So how much do we think Ole will be given to spend? My hope is that the club see this as an opportunity to finally get back to the top and back him.

So what do we need?

For the first eleven we need RB, a CB, a RW. We have little depth in in CM or attacking options too.

Who do we think we can realistically bring in and ship out? how much do we think Ole will be given? Could youth players play a part?

. In recent years has done you virtually nothing but waste millions so far on players you now want ride of.

well if winning trophies is virtually nothing then there's no point playing anymore

Once again, spend, spend, spend. Like that is the answer to everything.

1. In recent years has done you virtually nothing but waste millions so far on players you now want ride of.

2. Again, the arrogant assumption that all these players ( and their current clubs ) will just bend over for you. I mean Sancho will have his pick of at least 3/4 clubs that are way better options than a club that is barely sitting at the top table.

3. Why not ( for a pleasant change ) be happy with your current progress and let your coach actually coach players through, rather than use the "get the cheque book out" mentality as an answer for everything. I mean isn't that his job.

God, I am so glad you lot aren't in charge of my bank account.

PSG highlighted that even with an improved attitude, United are still well short on quality at elite level.

Big money required again.

Yes they did. But then most of us on here were aware of this.

Big money required again.

.......................

Not really, just some well spent money will suffice.

Agreed. A big name player is not going to help. What’s needed is the right players for the right system

It's hard to buy someone to compete with Pogba, as we can't really fit two CM's in the team like him, but if he's injured or suspended we have no creativity as none of our other CM's are capable of playing like him.

Step forward Angel Gomes.

One Sancho, de Ligt, and a RB in his prime.

No point in getting AWB and Dalot in the same team IMO.

Essentials for the next season, imho:

A legit right sided attacked. A commanding CB.

Needed in the not too distant future:

Another RB, a DM.

Fix those first two issues and i'd be confident going into next season.

Out: Pogba (free)

IN: Bale (£15m), Ronaldo (£24.5m), Greizzman (£45m), Modric (£5m). Alderwerield (£7m), Mbappe (£52.6m) Rooney (£60m), Pogba (£180m) - We'd make it all back in shirt sales.

Etc.

A lot will depend on whether we qualify for the CL.That will certainly boost the transfer kitty for sure.

If we can get decent money for Lukaku n Fred i'd let both of them go too. I don't think Lukaku will want to play second fiddle for too much longer. Hopefully we can get rid for £40-50m to Inter after they lose Icardi which now looks inevitable.

Fred just doesn't seem to be fancied by Ole. Mctominnay n Pereira are ahead of him it seems. Think we need to put that down as another huge transfer flop now.

So we could be looking at £150m minimum spend I reckon.

Alderweireld - 25m
Sancho - 80m
Rabiot - Free transfer
Wan Bissaka - £45m

rabiot is going to barca

And nobody is getting Sancho for £80m.

He's in contention for Bundesliga POTY, is 18 years old, and has just signed a new long term contract.

Are there any half decent defenders in the youth teams? Seems to be an area we can't develop home grown talent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We've developed a lot of quality Premier League defenders over the last five to ten years.

The problem is the developmental curve. Defenders often don't reach their peaks until close to or into their thirties, so you need a truly exceptional talent to make it through the ranks to the first team squad at a top club.

Thankfully, we still have...
