As Chris Sutton said, there’s way to lose a football match. Last night was one of them.
The damage was done in the first leg, I think we all knew that but last night was about showing some belief and putting in a performance and you know what, we were unlucky not to at least come away with a draw and had we kept 11 men on the park, we may well have nicked a goal or two.
To a man I thought they were very, very good with the exception of Boyata first half who causes us 3 chances, one of which led to Toljan’s first booking. That said he was very good 2nd half. Scott Bain & Jozo were outstanding and only bettered by Hayes and Ajer at the back.
Scott Brown got better as the game went on, he was excellent 2nd half, McGregor very good. Christie done a power of running and kept the ball ticking over but a wee rest is needed for him.
Forrest decent enough on the ball and worked tirelessly without.
As for Burke, he’s just an athlete, he’s not a footballer, his touch is an actual disgrace for a professional and when he gets into the box he’s not got a clue what to do. He put in a shift though and caused a few problems with his pace so I’ll give him pass marks for that.
A lot to be positive about last night and the fans over there at least witnessed a good performance away from home for once. Now we need to build on those performances.
3 massive games from Sunday to Saturday, with Brown being suspended and the effort put in last night then we’ll change it up on Sunday but I expect our strongest side on Wednesday and Saturday.
Onwards and upwards to hopefully another treble
