Groundhog Day...

Again and again. Every time we go into a so called "must win" game or at a crucial time, or when a break through is possible, the result is the same.

1. Defense awful. Can't win headers when defending at corners. Think back to Watford game. Why is that. Do they not cover it in training ?

2. This constant need to play out from the back. Teams sussed this out years ago and simply press, resulting in mistakes and winning back possession. We ain't as good as City.

3. Can't win tackles. Every team we play seems to be able to win 50/50 tackles. Not every now and then but all the time. Particularly in midfield.

4. Short corners - what is the point ? we never score from this anyway. Today was consistently awful in this respect. Just thump it into a packed area like others do ffs.

5. Slow build up. Today was particularly poor. Why do Spurs think the opposition won't notice and get back into position time and again. What ever happened to those lightening breaks we used to see a couple of years ago ?

6. Putting the opposition under pressure. Burnley did not make a single mistake today. No hurried passes to us. If we were playing City or Barca I could understand us not over committing and getting caught out, but this is Burnley ffs. We should have been all over them, hurrying them. I mean if we need to give Burnley that much respect, then may as well give up.

7. Kane - clearly not match fit. Yes he scored, but we changed our whole approach play to accommodate, and we have just seen, coincidentally, Son's worst game for months. I love Kane and he is our main man, but going forward was awful, and perhaps we should have less reliance on him ( until match fit ) and not have an outcome where Son was so restricted. Possibly bring him on for last half a hour ? but, hey I am not the manager.

Rant over. Just miffed that we see this type of game way too many times from Spurs, with the same mistakes and the same outcome.

Great article, couldn't have put it better.

Most of them points are down to Poch, he simply is not addressing what are the same mistakes time and time again. Next season will be his last I reckon.

Good article, we only appeared to show some real urgency after going behind. Rose can`t put in a decent ball, has he even had an assist this season? Aurier blows hot and cold. Central midfield at the moment lacks bite and we only seem to press the opposition when we feel like it.

All this combined with Mike Dean and you see the results.

I think the last few weeks have papered over the cracks.

All these late goals kept you in within touching distance of City and Liverpool but anyone who watched those performances could see that Spurs were struggling long before today.

Fulham, Newcastle and Leicester all deserved something out of their games against Tottenham.

Spurs fans have knocked pundits for ages for their refusal to consider Spurs as legitimate title challengers but you simply cannot lose a quarter of your league games and expect to win anything.

Main issue I have is why can’t we clear the ball. How many times did we need 2 or 3 attempts to clear our lines today?

Both right backs need to be moved on I think.

Agreed. Forgot to make the point about first half displays. This seem to be every game now and must bring into question mentality and motivation.

The short corners were winding me up too. No planning goes into them they're just spontaneous and come to nothing. All that happens is the ball gets played out to someone who isn't very good at shooting, to have a shot on the outside of the box, but they ended up getting blocked every time. Why even have Kane and Llorente in the box if you're going to do that??

I'm convinced no practice goes into our free kicks and corner taking. We just go with whoever feels like taking one at the time.
