My Thoughts on Today's Game

Normally I am a remote throwing, shouting at the TV, pissing off the mrs and the neighbours, moan about everything caaaaant when I watch spurs on tv, but today I was, and still am surprisingly calm.

Couldn't help but smile as the game unfolded exactly how I had told myself it would.

first things first, Burnley played well, executed the game plan perfectly, and were deserved winners.... but for spurs to serve up that performance after 10 days off, was an absolute joke.... an absolute mess of a team selection, and subs.

I was pretty confident we wouldn't pick up three points for the simple fact that it was a massive opportunity for us to really put ourselves in the mix, and therefore we, as usual, didn't capitalise. we are experts at winning games when the pressure is off.

A few issues...

1. Set pieces, attacking and defensive..... we have to be amongst the poorest in the league at these two elements.... our corners are so unbelievably awful, and strike or no preparation at all... just do whatever we feel like doing at the time... and defensively we look shaky every time a decent ball is played into the box... not acceptable as this is something that can easily be rectified with training,

2. Foyth.... talented player, but a total liability im afraid. what is his obsession with taking risks? he cannot help himself. sometimes it comes off, but when it doesn't it puts us in trouble every time... and he's reckless... I think he's got a big future but I want him out on loan, in the prem, being a liability for someone else's defence, and then we can bring him back when he develops into the class player that I think he can be.

3. Aurier..... him and Trippier have to be moved on... RB is a massive problem area, and we need to address it in summer.

4. Eriksen... I just find that he generally looks quite disinterested at the moment... he is definitely off, 100% off I think, and I would probably cash in at the right price (60-80m), and reinvest the money properly.

The timing of that result and performance is everything wrong with Spurs... I say it over and over again... the problem at this club is not in the feet... it hasn't been for years and years.. we have always had class players... its all in the head...

we had statistically the best away record in all 5 top European leagues this season, and are given a relegation team away from home to close to within 2 points of the top, when city don't play and Liverpool go to OT... and that is the performance and result we get, after 10 days off.

Fack off spurs you caaaants!

Anyway... thats my two pennies worth.... big game Wednesday away at Chelsea so cannot really feel too sorry for ourselves... good time to play them...

win the next two and we might be back in the mix who knows.... that said we would lose whichever game comes straight after getting in the mix anyway, so whats the point

Totally agree with OP.
This was so predictable. Spurs blow every chance they get. Over last 4 seasons we’ve lost to West Ham twice, West Brom, wolves and now Burnley to mess up chances to either go top or close to it.
We just don’t have the minerals to win the league, in fact anything judging by our cup failures last 20 years.

Spurs will never win anything under Poch, the changes the team around to much.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It didn't prevent you from thinking that we'd win the title under him at the start of the season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You can’t make this up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's surreal logic. I mean we knew he liked his rotation from the previous season.

Spurs will 100 per cent lose to both Chelsea and Arsenal. The defence has become the weakest point of the team, and don't look anywhere near improving anytime soon.

No way are we losing 3 games in a row.

I had higher hopes for the CL, and I still stand by that.

Think really the damage has been done in the league already with losses to Watford and Wolves when we were leading. It's going to require a special number of points to win this season and we don't have it in us, not with the tough games ahead. The loss to Burnley today is probably inconsequential.

CL should be the priority.

You are right. It’s just the timing of it that grates on me. Another chance missed. I don’t think any of us think we would win league, but we should have won today to really make Liverpool and city think.

Chronic, we will spank Arsenal mate. They are total pansies and if we can get in their face, then no problem despatching then. Chelsea away I’m worried about like always.

We need to be able to go on one of those big winning runs that the very best teams can, and it should be possible for this team. We went on a 9 game winning run a couple of seasons ago. This season it's been only 5 at the most. Not good enough.

We have a good chance of winning our current CL leg against Dortmund. If we have a full squad.
But we cannot have another performance in Dortmund like we had today at turfmoor. They will get the 3 goals back if we do that!
I blame Levy, pure and simple. No equivalent replacement for Walker. No improvement in the squad.
Buy nothing in this game ....nothing is what you get in return.
Today we really did miss Alli.
But our defending was also missing. Dunno whose fault that is?
Perhaps Pochettino's high line to get a win cost us the match?
Must say I'm Bugggered by this result.

Yeh well that was at the startof the season. Not in my wildest dreams could I have envisaged the Tinkerman rotating the team to these ridiculous levels. He hasn't got a clue what his best defence is anymore, that is a sure sign he his losing it, as was his outburst yesterday. Very worrying signs that usually only mean one, it will all end badly this season, when it should have been one to celebrate with a bit of decent management.

The week from hell has only just begun. Come the end of the week, I won't be the only Spurs fan moaning.

Danny Rose is so frustrating also, he does a lot of good work down the flank (when he isn`t sat on his aris asking for a free kick that is) but almost never puts in a good ball. His crosses are either over hit or straight at a defender, and his cut backs never find a Spurs player.

I don`t even think he has had an assist this season. Vertonghen put more decent balls into the box in one game v Dortmund than Rose has all season.

He got one against Burnley
