I thought I would talk about something else that has been done to death, who should we sign.
Now I admit I have no idea of particular players, but, I would very much like to see a top class right winger. Wingers seem to be a dying breed, but they shouldn't be. A few names :-
Scanlon, Berry, BEST, Charlton for two seasons, Connelly, Morgan, Coppell and Hill, Giggs, Kanchelski, Beckham, Ronaldo, any of them ring a bell.
Wingers have many uses, the best outlet when under pressure, boot it up field and it comes right back. with a good winger it's the start of a counterattack.
A cross from the byline is going away from the goalie and defenders and onto the heads and feet of the attackers.
They score goals. If they are continually beating the fullback it begins to pull the other team out of shape, they sacrifice a midfielder or defender to double mark him, giving more space for others to run into. They make the oppo fullback think before making too many runs forward. They are great to watch.
Next a great striker. I know we have Rashforf who I love, and Lukaku who I don't. But you can't have too many, and sorry Romelu, but you would have to be the one who goes, he does score a lot of goals but doesn't suit us imo. Two good strikers is just right, cover for injuries and suspensions, and can play together most matches. Strikers are the people who win you games, even in an average team, see RVP for example in our last title winning year.
A right full back if Dalot doesn't make it.
A defensive midfielder to replace Matic when age catches up with him.
Now if we have youngsters coming through who can do this, eg Greenwood, TFM, then so much the better, let's wait for them, if not we will have to buy them, this summer.
So, that's who I want and why.
Come on United tomorrow, we can do it, they are not unbeatable no matter what Got Better says.
As I have no idea of the result tomorrow

Without wingers, united are only half the threat they traditionally are.
Weirdly, united's recent lack of winger problem started when sir Gary Neville retired. For reasons inexplicable he wasn't replaced. Somebody must have joked that the resolution to such a vital and specialised position lie in sticking a Brazilian in there. Somebody misunderstood the sarcasm and carried that out, and then doubled down on the 'joke' by doing the same on the other flank.
When it was realised, by three successive coaches, that the joke wasn't that funny and so the positions repeatedly had to be filled by the only two wingers the club had.
Thus, not only was the fullback position weakened, the club also lost the threat from the wings.
Now its too late of course. The misplaced wingers are now too old, and the only defensively capable fullbacks (shaw and darmian) are not trusted because despite being proper defenders they don't "get forward enough" apparently.
It's a weird world.
But in short, yes wingers are desperately required.
No point in united's better players like lukaku, pogba, fred, Mata and Sanchez pointlessly battling though a congested midfield. And please let's not pretend any of those are wingers - playing players out of position is precisely what put united in this ridiculous 6-year, relative, slump in the first place
