Player ratings vs. Crystal Palace

First time in the King Power stadium that we've lost 4 home games in a row in all competitions. And those home games have been against Cardiff, Southampton, Man Utd and now Crystal Palace.

Here are my ratings:

Schmeichel: 6 - Pulled off a tremendous save at 2-1 that led directly to a penalty. Other than that, looks like he has as much belief in this side as everyone else.
Ricardo: 7 - Actually did a really good job of keeping Zaha quiet, as well as adding to attack. Although his crossing still needs work.
Evans: 7 - Looked to me like the only leader on the pitch. Read the game well. Unfortunate that he ultimately conceded the penalty, because for me he'd been out best player. My choice for our MOTM.
Maguire: 5 - We need to sell him in the summer before everyone else realises that he can't read a game for toffee. Gave up toward the end as well.
Fuchs: 6 - Hasn't quite got the old sparkle any more but still a solid worker.
Tielemans: 5 - Played some really nice passes in an attacking first half, but there is a massive problem for me: He doesn't look interested in defending. Nor did he show any positional discipline. I get that he's allowed to roam, but he can't get away with not coming back to help the defence. It's bad enough when Gray does it and he's a winger. I hoped he might be the missing piece of the jigsaw, but on this performance he looks more like a defensive liability.
Ndidi: 6 - One person who was aided by the setup, in that he was allowed to just go about his defensive game and lay short passes to others without having to be expansive. Just stop shooting, Wilf.
Maddison: 6 - Left by Tielemans to do a lot of the running in midfield. Reduced to being something a workhorse, which didn't suit him, and his work in the final third continued to be unproductive.
Ghezzal: 4 - Same old problem of going backwards and taking too many touches. Hooked at half time, yet again.
Vardy: 5 - Didn't get any real chances, but didn't look like he believed any would come either. Ran the channels well but didn't provide any decent movement when the Palace defence was set.
Barnes: 7 - A bright spark at least, in that he looked able to get past people and make something happen. Always looked the most likely of the forward players to break the Palace lines.

Gray: 6 - Occasionally found space but again lacked end product.
Iheanacho: 6 - At least put himself about this time, played once again unfathomably on the right wing instead of in a front two.
Okazaki: 5 - I hazily recall there used to be a footballer in there somewhere.

Our formation was set up with three U23s in the centre of midfield, and ultimately it showed. Against a well-drilled and determined Palace side, we were beaten for sheer grit and experience - picked off after absorbing waves of pressure. Palace will of course be delighted, and so they should be. But for us, it goes down as yet another home defeat. Having the occasional one happens, but this is more than occasional now. Once again, we were unable to truly control the game when trying to make the running, and once again our closing down and pressing was non-existent.

If we don't beat Brighton on Tuesday, Puel should go.

No you don't. I've seen you. You can't get enough of the Dungeman.

Ok I’ll be honest I do

I’ll be honest I wouldn’t be looking to Tielemans as an option to improve our defence. He should track back and will learn that but he’s been brought in for a more free role to try and add something to the attack - which he absolutely did against Spurs where he was class.

Palace just parked the bus and fouled everyone who go within 2 miles of their penalty area. Horrible horrible side

No lack of effort from the players they haven't given up they are just not good enough Kasper for one of the top three keepers in the world according to TB Apart from the first goal looks like now all you have to do is to shoot to beat him.
Vardy looks of the pace and fluffed his chance thats now 13 big chances this season more than double the last two seasons. There are no rubbish teams in the prem apart from the bottom to and we are not a best of the rest this season.
Who evers the manager next season needs to ditvh kasper who is the common denominator inwhat ever defence we pick. McGuire goes and lets us the money to get a decent strikers we need three unless Gray or Ian step up...don't hold your breath.

I don't agree, the players often look lost and confused but I don't think it's a lack of motivation, just confusion.

Had we of gone ahead yesterday I think we'd have reversed the scoreline but despite all the effort and possession we didn't really create any clear cut chances, lots of half chances only.

To clarify, I agree that the players are trying to execute Puel’s plan, but I don’t think enough of the senior players beleive in it as it’s had far too long failing now to think it will do any different.

Good teams beat us because they’re better, poor teams beat us because we’re easy to defend against.

The players are starting to look like they can’t or won’t make this successful.

When you say senior players, that's Vardy and Kasper and I guess Evans with an older head, everyone else has little Premier League experience, there's your issue.

It was on the cards, one of the worst Managers we’ve had with the squad he had at his disposal.
