After their controversial game at Bournemouth on Saturday from which they extracted a hard earned point, Wolves hit the road again on Tuesday when they travel to Yorkshire to take on Jan Siewert’s Huddersfield Town.

When the two sides last met, at Molineux in November, Huddersfield ran out 2-0 winners but amazingly, that was the last game that they won. Despite having played 14 games since, The Terriers still only have 11 points, 5 points less than Wolves had on that day in November.
Surely destined for Championship football next season but having beaten Wolves once this season, with the home advantage and a manager in charge of just his 5th game with the club, Huddersfield will nonetheless go into this game believing that they can get something from it.

Wolves, currently in eighth place in the league, are unbeaten in 8 games (in all competitions) having drawn their previous 2 league games after winning 3 in a row.
Of their 40 points, 19 have come from games away from home, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Despite their poor results, The Terriers are still getting close to capacity crowds for home games which is an indication of how passionate their supporters are. With that level of support and with Wolves’ ticket allocation sold out within hours (again), there should be a great atmosphere for this match.
Huddersfield will be without captain Tommy Smith who was sent off on Saturday during the defeat by Newcastle and is suspended as a result.
Wolves could be without midfield maestro Joao Moutinho who suffered a facial injury during Saturday’s game with Bournemouth having been elbowed by Jefferson Lerma

Interesting fact: Huddersfield are the first side to lose seven consecutive home Premier League games since Wolves in April 2012 (a run of nine).

It would probably be fair to say that Huddersfield’s victory at Molineux in November was the high point of a disastrous season. David Wagner got his tactics right that day with his men deservedly emerging comfortable winners.
The Wolves performance was so bad, it convinced Nuno we needed an extra body in midfield – a move which has taken his team to a whole new level. I suppose we can thank the Terriers for that in some perverse way, but that shouldn’t be at the expense of what will hopefully be another strong showing tomorrow.

Huddersfield:
They haven’t won a single game since leaving Molineux, with 13 defeats and a draw all but ensuring they’ll be back in the Championship next season. A conscious uncoupling with David Wagner in the middle of January felt like the decisive nail in the coffin and new man Jan Siewert hasn’t been able to halt the slide.
Like Wagner he was recruited from Borussia Dortmund and the hopes will be he can rebuild a squad capable of making an immediate return next season.
This season, there’s really only pride left to play for and avoiding unwanted records. Fortunately, Derby’s all-time low points tally of 11 isn’t under threat.
It was a typical hard luck story at Newcastle on Saturday, with captain Tommy Smith sent off (he’s suspended tomorrow) and two second half goals further adding to their pain.
The head coach is demanding a response for what he felt was a lack of effort in the game, so it will be interesting to see how they apply themselves in this one.

Their fans haven't enjoyed their brief stay in the Premier League, or Greed League as they call it, champers would rather watch them play Luton.

He said most of their fans wanted to get relegated back to the Championship, so they must be delighted with how their new manager has settled in...... 😹

Oooh, fame at last.

Been over this before, but one more time eh. It's not that we want to be relegated, we'd love to be able to compete but we can't, we just aren't ready as a club to make the kind of dent in this division, not like you can with your backing. We got promoted on the 6th lowest budget/wage bill in the Championship, we should have probably gone down last year, we're definitely going down this year instead, but so what? We've pocketed more money than this club could ever have realistically fathomed.

I'd probably rather watch us play Liverpool, but playing against teams who buy and sell single players for as much as we can afford to on an entire window, is only gonna end up one way. My comment was I don't care if it's Liverpool or Luton, I'd just rather we were back at a level where going to a match isn't just some dreary formality of chasing expensive shadows. Regroup and try again, richer both for the experience and in the pocket.

Sneer at us all you want. You know without that super investment, no matter how well run you were before, you'd have struggled in the Premier League. Maybe not to our awful levels, but certainly in the same way Fulham or Cardiff will. I've also said I don't begrudge you landing on your feet so spectacularly. Just the attitude shown by a lot of your fans...Bostonwolf's first comment is the type of thing we associate hearing from Wolves fans. It's nothing new, but explains why out of all non-Yorkshire teams, you're the one a lot of Town fans enjoy beating the most.

After tomorrow night, good luck for the rest of the season and in the future. Be nice to see you shake things up a bit in the top 10.

This is a fair and eloquent post. I completely agree with the sentiment. We are fortunate in how things have gone for us with the new owners and investment. We don’t have a game without opposition. Good luck to Huddersfield, after tomorrow.

For the reasons I stated above, obviously.

It is a greedy league. The football leaks thing recently showed exactly how much the big hitters are in it for themselves, and if they had it their way you can bet the TV money that makes getting up here so worthwhile in the first place, wouldn't be shared out equally.

And wouldn't you be looking forward to getting out of this league if you were us? Its like being trapped in a recurring nightmare.

Lot of sense there Champers, best of luck after tomorrow, but rather think it's too late for you now.

I have said what Champers said there many times

Thanks Champers. How very reasonable.

Pity you couldn't be so eloquent and sensible a few weeks ago when you called us; arrogant, spoilt, knobheads, cuuunts, pr-cks etc.

All in a bitter seven paragraph rant!
