The Spaniards are ready and raring to go. Their famous red shirts are awaiting our Scottish Navy on the battlefield.
Mon eh JA Scots
HUGE CHANGES to this years Charity Match.
Like most years we needed 30-32 players to enable us to have a game to account for last minutes drop outs alongside injuries and cramp! However we now only need 16.
We now have confirmed a Scotland v Spain show down. We were struggling for numbers and the majority would be made up of mates of mates just to get a game together which for me ruins the spectacle of a JA event.
So while I was thinking a Charity Match wasn't going to happen this year I was approached by Spanish Dave who most have met at previous Charity Games and 5's. He proposed a Scotland v Spain game and I think it's a great idea.
This will be the fourth year in a row we have had a Charity Game and personally speaking it has been a huge success each time (despite late call offs and no shows)
I am happy to manage the team this year and play bits and bobs. Chopper and Lauders who usually run it with me can't make it this year.
Date: Saturday 1st June
Location: Glasgow Green
Strips: Players to provide own kit - Wear Navy Blue Tops or a Scotland top if you have one, with preferably white shorts and Red socks
Charity
Glasgow Children's Hospital has become JA Scotland's unofficial charity. Every penny helps them in the fantastic things that they do. We have raised around Β£5000 for this great cause over 3 years.
HOWEVER
A vote the other month was won 11 votes to 8 (with 5 opting to split the charity) to switch the Charity this year to St Andrews Hospice in Airdrie. As you may well know now, this is the hospice that Fernando Ricksen is to spend the rest of his life in. Like most hospices they required constant fundng just to keep running but the service they provide never drops.
I think it is safe to say that everyone is touched by what Ricksen is going through.
There is by no means any pressure to donate to charity and all players are more than welcome just to pay the Β£5 to cover the costs.I will set up a page closer to the time for donations.
Night Out
Arranged by NNH.
Admiral Bar has an area reserved for us from 1500hrs until late. It is the Champions League Final that night so should be a great day of football.
