Hockaday speaks

https://www.theguardian.com/football/football-league-blog/2019/feb/27/david-hockaday-leeds-massimo-cellino-manager

Good read, so glad we’re rid of that James Hunt Cellino.

I felt sorry for hock. Sure on the one hand you can say he didn’t deserve the job. It’s true he didn’t but that wasn’t his fault.

We didn’t actually play that terribly under him considering the circumstances. He got ridiculed by fans both when he was there and afterwards, when the ridicule should have been directed at Cellino.

The guy showed plenty of dignity by not blabbing his mouth off (admittedly he probably had a gagging clause as part of his severance) and even now he’s describing the situation matter of factly.

Wish the guy well.

milky agree with that BUT no one puts a gun to his head and says you have to take that job. But unlike whining Steve Evans, he seemed to realise he'd have to eat some humble pie and good luck to him that he managed to get Leeds on his CV, don't bear him any ill will.

Used to work with a young woman who was the victim of a brutal sexual assault at knifepoint, she found the way the "r" was banded about in popular culture particularly uncomfortable. Let's get this clear, Bates did not "rape" the club, the club entered willingly into a relationship with him fully aware of what he had done at Chelsea and Oldham. He was renowned in the football world as an asset stripper and we can hardly be surprised if he did the same thing to us.
The reality is that Ridsdale placed us in such a position that we had no choice than to accept the pieces of eight Bates offered as there was nobody else willing to bail the club out.
Please do not use such inappropriate language for what happened.

Plenty of others better qualified than him have. I don’t blame him for taking it.

I have nothing but sympathetic words for tour friend BUT the word was used as it was intended ... an act of plunder. The english language has a way of using different words for differing aspects of meaning. The word set has over 200 way / uses.

Rape against a woman or a man is horrific and a life damaging experience that no right minded person would condone or want to experience themselves but used in the correct context to describe the manner in which our club was affected by not just Bates but all our previous owners from Ridsdale to Celino is in my opinion the correct word to use however distressing an actual sexual assault can be you can not sensor this word from being used to describe what amounts to an abhorrent act inflicted upon our club.
