Torreira red card

Can that be appealed? Rose had a worse tackle where he lunged studs up into Leno and got a yellow. Torreira got the ball and clattered into rose. I think the rolling around is what sold the red.

Would it be worth appealing on grounds that he got the ball first?

Nowhere near as dangerous as Rose on Leno, a foul the inept ref saw as yellow.
The only reason Torreira playing the ball looked dangerous was the slowness of Rose getting to the ball, and his weak challenge.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly, Torreira had already won the ball cleanly yet Rose was late into the challenge which led to the contact.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Contact on the follow-through is still a red-cardable offense as long as both feet have left the ground.

Well not according to the same ref half an hour earlier...

The biggest difference for me was intent...

Danny Rose's lunge was nowhere near the ball, i could be wrong but it looked like he was intending to follow through and hurt Leno which he achieved with studs into his stomach/chest.

Torreira won the ball and never looked like he was intending to hurt Rose, he did obviously catch him with studs on his shin pads but it was less severe than Rose.

Rose gets a yellow having committed several fouls beforehand which he arguably should have been booked for.

Torreira gets a straight red having to my knowledge not committed any fouls or at least serious fouls beforehand.

The ref certainly switched off on a number of occasions.

I won't blame him for the penalty miss, but Vertonghen was practically level with Aubameyang when he took the kick.

Rose also dived and didn't get booked for it

I think its in the purview of the ref to downgrade it to a yellow. I hope he does but doubt it.

It’s a bit of a harsh Red (especially when the studs straight into Leno’s Chest was a Yellow!) but it’s not outrageous so I highly doubt it will be rescinded.

——————-

Verthongen did enter the area before the kick was taken, but look closely because TWO Arsenal players were also encroaching including the one who played the ball after Lloris’s save!

Also look at Leno immediately after Rose’s tackle, he was looking at the referee and when the whistle blew he threw himself into a ball clutching his chest!

Would never get overturned.

Rose one was awful, sums the ref up that he didn't see that as a red. Far worse than Torreira, who won the ball easily and it was Rose slowness to the ball that led to him getting hurt.
————————-

Rose had the ball already and was not slow at all.

Whilst I think Torreira was unfortunate, he did have both feet off the ground which is what did for him I think.

I agree that Rose was fortunate, although Leno made a bit of a meal of it too.
