Great rule change for next season.

I can’t be alone of getting annoyed with the constant time wasting we’ve seen this season, against us.

The blatant cheating of when teams making a sub, sending the player to the other side of the pitch, for them to then slowly walk off.

Well next season they have to leave the pitch at the nearest point

Difference is when we go one or even 2 up we go for more, we don’t stop our game plan.

The problem is when teams game plan is to waste time, like QPR, Brum etc.

I think Leeds are giving it back a bit of what has been served to them when they mess around at opp throw ins, but it’s still not right even when we’re doing it and refs need to get a grip on it.

You’re applying this to right now instead of us having done exactly the same as being argued against in different times.

LUFC is no different from any other team, and has done the same especially in seasons when we have been up against it

There are people in the game who’ll tell you revie’s Leeds brought this kind if ‘professionalism’ into the game.

But I’m firmly of the view that it’s only ok if we do it

Wouldn’t it be great if the ‘fair play’ principles were applied to on field time wasting... ie if the ref felt that a side had taken the ball into the corner flag to kill time he could give a free kick. Probably hard to enforce where to draw the line.

What they could do though is, for time wasting offences, they should add double the time. Goalkeeper ties shoe laces for 1 minute before goal kick = 2 minutes of injury time.

Im not condoning it. I am just saying that there has been a lot of berating of officials this season and we play or part in time wasting.

Perhaps they could look to rugby league (new rules on taking drop outs quicker etc) and put a clock on certain things.
20 seconds to get off the pitch of a yellow.
20 seconds to take a goal kick or yellow
etc.

The rules are in place for refs to book players for time wasting. But they don’t use it. That’s the problem.

Using time legally on the pitch is completely different from wasting time when the ball is off the pitch

A good reason why they dont.

Time wasting such as
Slow substitutions.
Feigning injuries

A referee cannot interpret whether a player is injured or not. He therefore cannot go around brandishing yellow cards to players who go down. Occasionally we do see a player jump up after going down and referees do book that player, but most these days are smart enough to stay down and then hobble around for 10 seconds before sprinting back into action as soon as play is restarted. Equally there is no way of the refereeing knowing whether a player is substituted off because he is injured and therefore cannot jog off the pitch.

Referees do book goalkeepers regularly for slow goal kicks. Referees do book players for kicking the ball away and they book players for slow throw-ins. These are all events that do not need any degree on interpretation and therefore it is easy for them to caution.

I get that it just annoys the sh*t out of me.

Kebab, i'm talking about when a player waddles off the pitch, stopping to shake team mates hands. Throw ins taking forever. Time wasting happens all the time that could easily be punished.

Keeper holding on to the ball for longer than 6 seconds is time wasting in the rules of the game. Have you ever seen this enforced?

For me, the much bigger problem, which has a greater impact on every game, are the players who pick up the ball and take it away with them when the opponent has been awarded a free kick or throw in and then drop it on the floor or throw it over the opponent’s head.

Watch Luke Ayling do this multiple times and egregiously every game,
