Rodgers OUT!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Joking aside this doesn’t look great for you does it? Been pinning all of this on Puel and we looked even worse today.....
Rodgers is a good appointment but he has his work cut out. I’ll give it a month before you’re calling for his head
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It looks fine for me BS. Yes there were problems today but Rodgers made some sensible changes and it will take time to bed in his ideas.
Work still needs to be done defensively to adjust to the back 3. It didn’t click instantly and we still need to be better in the final 3rd.
We all know it’s a big task. Not many of us underestimate that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What work? He doesn’t have good enough players does he?! Unless you think Wes Morgan can cut it in a back 3. If you know anything about Rodgers by the way (which is doubtful based on your posting history) you would know he isn’t renowned for a solid defence in any case.
What Rodgers needs is something you can’t get your head around. The support of a decent recruitment policy - the kind that Pearson and Ranieri benefited from. He also needs time.
You’d have to be absolutely moronic to think this is Puels team. Unless you think he signed Kasper and Wes?!

To be fair to any involved in their signings - the issue wasn’t signing them as they have both heavily contributed to the best season we’ve ever had. The issue is how long before they, or any player, begins to slow down/surpass their peak and eventually reach a point where they need replacing.
After years of heckling Kasper and looking for support with this, Nev may start to get his wish soon..

Not his signings but who picked the team today?

Morgan should go back to Forest and have Kasper drive him and stay!

I know nothing about Rodgers BS, what with living in Liverpool married to a Liverpool fan.
I’m such an idiot.

Rodgers pre match said the 3 man defense was to counter Watford's forwards, I wonder if it was a one off or will become the norm.
Neither goal had anything to do with the set up, just poor play as we've become used to with the defense these days, not a new issue but one he needs to sort out.
Not a Great result but Watford are fighting for that 7th place Puel failed so miserably to get us any where near, it's hardly Cardiff at home we've just lost to.

Well I don’t want to argue with your assertion there Mersey, it’s probably the most accurate thing you’ve said for some time.
If you know so much about Brendan Rodgers then I wonder why on earth you think we are going to improve defensively or what he’s going to bring in that regard. It’s probably his worst attribute. It’s like asking you to be open minded on something - pointless

I don’t “think” we’re going to improve defensively BS, I hope that we will.
Going 3 at the back (or 5 however you look at it) was a step to make us harder to play through and protected the lack of pace we possess at centre back whilst covering Maguire’s defensive limitations.
So a good start.
I’m not saying Rodgers is going to have a defence first focus, I just hope he can improve that situation. One way to do this is to improve our cohesion between defence and attack, and actually fix the forward line to we ask more questions of the opposition. At the minute it’s easy to play against us defensively which lets other teams dictate the tempo. We need to do that more and this is what I hope Rodgers can bring.
I don’t think he’s some sort of defensive manager. I don’t know how I gave you that view. I just hope that his methods enable us to have more balance across the field, and that includes the defence.
Things like not playing a high line with Morgan would be a start.
