Things we learned today

- We can't play a back 3 that includes Morgan and Evans. If Rodgers wants to persevere with it, and I personally think it can be beneficial for us, then we need to use Soyuncu and then Benkovic next year either side of Evans or a new CB.

- The problems we had today with lack of intensity and defensive mistakes are not solely due to Claude Puel. They are reoccurring issues we have endured since the 16/17 season.

- We are still far, far too reliant on putting through balls to Vardy as our only means of scoring a goal. Rodgers needs to sort this out and work on an eventual succession plan for Vardy.

- Schmeichel's distribution is still dirt poor. If he can't/won't improve it, get rid. There's better options out there who won't use their father to undermine the manager.

- Maddison needs to toughen up and work on his consistency. He's a fantastic talent but very lightweight and eased off the ball too easily.

- We have far too few options on the bench / in the squad to turn a match around. We need quality additions in the summer.

- The job that Rodgers has on his hands is much, much bigger than many are assuming. Both in terms of the quality in the squad and the player power that he needs to stamp out ASAP.

- This will be the biggest challenge in his managerial career and may well be what defines his career.

Two threads now that imply that there are a great many fans who think that getting rid of Puel is like waving a magic wand for instant success. Do people really believe that?

I still look at our squad and don’t think we have a divine right to be many places higher than we are currently. Are we really so much better than some of the teams around us: Everton, Watford, Wolves etc . ?

I think we’re 2 or 3 players short of having a squad that should finish seventh. Good solid performers who can help transition the younger players.

Haven’t seen any comments with those sorts of claims on here myself Joby. And in the real world, again haven’t been in any conversations or heard any conversations where any Leicester fan has suggested it.

Perhaps there are some out there though

Other than accusations on here, the only other time be heard about it is from pundits firstly suggesting we demand top 6/7 and then now, saying we should be aiming for top 6/7.

Our side has a lot of potential with regards to youth but how many young players go on to be consistently good at top level, let along good enough to aid an assault on the top 6 or 7 places. I think this is something we need to be wary of - that balance between placing emphasis on youth and putting pressure on them.

Nope, I don’t beleive in the magic wand either.

I do beleive Puel has this squad under-performing and I hope that rodgers can get them more organised so we begin to see more cohesive performances.

Right now our players look like they are thinking way too much. What does look to have a lot of potential is our overlapping fullbacks. But our final ball is still poor. Barnes has come in and seems just as guilty of this as anyone else.

Kasper is not good enough

Chilwell final ball is for the most part shocking and almost always to late

Ricardo did exceptional well to keep some of Kasper’s passes in play. I think if it’s just the incident at the end you consider it a mistake, it happens. But it was constant over hit passes out through the game and season to be fair. Needless as well.

Agree. Chilwell, Barnes, Gray and sometimes Maddison are guilty of playing the wrong pass at the wrong time!!

We have to improve that. I hope that getting players in to better positions will make the pass and decision easier as we won’t be trying to force it.

Thinly disguised Joby but it’s there no question about it.

Too early to condemn 3 at the back although I can't say I was ecstatic about seeing Wes back in the side.

Note the comment about lack of intensity but Claude had 16 months to sort it out.

We certainly need a plan b for scoring.

Not sure what Kasper has to do to give Ward a start?

Madders does need to improve but he's already come a long way in a short time.

Options on the bench. Not arguing there.

We'll see how big a job BR has as we go through the rest of the season.

Bigger challenge than managing Liverpool?
