Surprise

First of all, full marks to Everton, they played their game better than we did ours. Their's was a stopping tackling, mauling, disrupting game in poor weather conditions and they succeeded. That's not a criticism of them; our team is or was supposed to be the only with talent, and Everton stopped us in our tracks.

But what surprised me was Lallana coming on. I've long been an admirer and supporter of the man, but with Shaq and Naby, each of them bruisers who it would be difficult to knock off the ball sitting there alongside him, each would have been my preferred choice, by some distance.

Nine games to go, anything can happen, but I can't see us not qualifying for next season's CL. Fourth slot is a three horse race, Mourino wouldn't have got them there in a million years, but I can see Ole getting them there to the fourth slot. Now that for me would be a fantastic achievement.

PL race over for this season? Not in my book.

The loss to city was the start of the wobble

All you needed was a draw to keep them at arms length

Psychologically damaging for your boys to wake up this morning trailing by a point

Yep, so easy taking a point off Man City.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Going into the game at that time I think most would have had you more than capable of getting a point at city

Let’s see if Man U can manage it to get top 4.”

What have utd got to do with you losing at city ?

Still convinced it’s Liverpool’s title this year. City have hardly been convincing themselves of late. A couple of scrappy 1-0 wins against average teams like Bournmouth and Westham, plus a very lucky win against a terrible Schalke side in the CL is hardly mouth watering stuff. They have dropped points in silly games and will do so again. Just depends if Liverpool can take advantage of that.

Just because it’s 1-0 doesn’t mean it’s scrappy 😂 not our best admittedly, but I think West Ham and Bournemouth had 2 chances between them? Both well managed games on our part.

For all the talk of us looking likely to drop points, plying sides we have lost to etc. Ultimately since the turn of the year our record in all competitions is P16 W15 L1. I doubt there are many sides in Europe close to that.

Still. Plenty to play for.

But the teams that win 1-0 playing scrappy stuff with a mix of occasional demolitions of other teams are the teams that usually win the PL.

Think, Chelsea, United, Leicester. PL champions need those horrible 1-0 wins or they turn into 0-0 draws

Winning 1-0 playing like dross can be equally as important as playing amazing stuff winning 3/4 nil

It's probably the only difference between city and Liverpool at the moment, both can play some amazing football but City have just found a way to get some scrappy wins at a critical moment in the season

We've had a few of those 1-0s ourselves this season.

Title isn't over yet, but it has been a bad month for Liverpool. Time for Klopp to prove himself now and get this one over the line.

City and Liverpool will be the top 2 one way or another, that won't change. Spurs however have dropped into the battle for top 3/4.
